Description: It is about assignments. If you’re in the Air Force Portal, you’re going to go through AMS which is the assignment management system.
It is about assignments. I’ve gotten a lot of messages of people asking how I can know where I’ll be stationed and do I have any say in it? In the seventh week of basic training, it could have changed. However, when I went through the seventh week, we found out where we were.
As to going to tech school and what our jobs would be, we were given dream seats so you have eight choices and eight choices stateside.
I didn’t know what some of them were like. I put the Ryu Ku Islands which end up being Okinawa Japan which is my first base.
I didn’t know what that was, so I’ve put it on there but you don’t have to fill out both slots. There are assignments cycles, so you don’t have a DeRose. You can leave whenever you get picked up for an assignment. First, if you have to stay a certain basis, you have to stay the base at a certain amount of time before you’re eligible for it.
For the most part, there are exceptions but everyone has a DeRose. The time that you can spend at that base overseas is limited, so for your cycles is whatever month you got there in that month. You’re going to leave. If you’re in the Air Force, you’re going to go through AMS which is the assignment management system.
It’s on the Air Force portal and you’ll go in there. When the cycles drop, it’ll show you what is available. I would put whatever position you could feel fulfilled now. It is not guaranteed that you’re going to get whatever you put, if Hawaii’s available or Germany or Italy.
You’re going to get it. Ultimately, it’s all up to the Airforce. But if you meet all the qualifications for that position, it’s in your cycle and you put it there. There’s a good chance that you have of getting it but you have to consider that you’re competing against other people that also have the same qualifications. Ultimately, it’s up to a FPC for dream sheets. It’s not going to be whatever you want as Ramsey.
I’ve heard that it’s cheaper to keep someone overseas that’s already overseas than sending someone stateside that’s overseas. I guess some people say it’s difficult to leave the states once you’ve been in the States, but I don’t think so.
As long as you update your dreams, feeds follow-on assignments. That’s what you give her short tours, so let’s say you fill up your dream seat and you put a short torso like Korea or turkey or you have all of their bases in the sort or they look at that short tour first.
That is the priorities, so that Number Eight on the list but that would be the first place. They would have seen you with sort tours. There are incentives you could have follow-on assignment possibly, so that’s how I got to Germany. When I went to Korea, I put in for a follow-on assignment. I got my first choice which was coming to Germany. Some people don’t get their follow-on assignments they get denied for other reasons.
Some people get them. Then for some reason, they get cancelled.Ultimately, everything is up to the needs of the Air Force, but there are incentives. It’s pretty simple but ultimately you don’t have a big choice in it. You have a choice, and you can put what you want. You’ll get it but if not, you have a look and they send you where they need you. You can fill that out in tech school when you’ll go, so I found out I was going to put my first base.
On the second day of tech school, some people don’t find out. Then, in tech school they have the swap program or you can choose to, if you have the same qualifications and job and everything as another person and they don’t want to go to Ital, but Nebraska or whatever, because that’s home and they agreed to swap with you. Ultimately, you have that chance. I want to talk about assignments because I know since we were Confused. Thanks for your reading.
