Description: The article is about at&t wireless login. The author does a test on the unlimited data plans of AT&T and Verizon.Verizon has a little better coverage in some areas whil AT&T is better once you go over to their Throttling limits.
Terry and I use AT&T and Verizon for our internet service while we’re on the road which is all the time, both of them started offering unlimited data plans. When you use the devices as hotspots,AT&T limits your iPhone to 10 gigs before they will start throttling at their option,Verizon does the same thing. I’m using their MiFi device, they have the option to start throttling you.
I want to do a test because it seems to me that Verizon always throttles me as soon as I hit the 10 gigs and for AT&T,I don’t think I’ve ever been throttled.
We’re going on three months so I thought I would do a quick test and see how it works. My setup is this,I’ve got a MacBook Pro that acts as a whole house router,I use my iPhone or the MiFi device as hotspots,I have the iPhone hooked up while I’m running a test I use speedtest.net,on the course they should be impartial,I am going to run the test.
Terry’s able to watch video,I’m able to watch Netflix,I can upload YouTube videos,I’m pleased with the service from both of them, but the thing that I’m not so happy about is that Verizon seems to throttle me while AT&T so far has not. I’m well over the limit for the month on AT&T,you can see that I was getting good upload and download speed, now we can go to Verizon, you can see that I’m well over the limit there as well.
But I couldn’t even run speed test.net on Verizon tonight,I gave up on it,I decided to go to Verizon site and test the speed. You would think that Verizon would be smart enough to not throttle their speed test, but they’re throttling me like they throttle me on the rest of the internet. You’ll see the results in a second.
When I got the unlimited accounts, they could throttle me and they certainly would throttle me,but I have to tell you that I am way happier with AT&T version of unlimited data than I am Verizon’s version of unlimited data. Verizon is got great speed until you hit that limit, then it’s throttled down to this,it is less than a megabit per second up and down which is almost unusable on today’s Internet when you’re doing lots of stuff.
So far AT&T is winning this battle. I almost exclusively use my AT&T iPhone as my hotspot now and provide Internet to the entire coach,I have been very happy with the way that it works.
