Today you will learn about creating new virtual machine from existing virtual machine. I’m going to use system preparation tool. This virtual machine has couple of software installed including Visual Studio IAS and I also configure network security group on Azure portal an inbound rule on virtual machine firewall to allow website hosting. Let me show you everything that I have. now You can see I have Visual Studio on virtual machine.
I’m going to publish a project on this virtual machine in C Drive demo website. I will click on publish and it has published successful now. I am going to browse on port 8000 localhost and you can see the site. It was published under www root demo website folder. You can note down this IP address. I am using this IP address to access this website. I am opening the firewall to show you and see an inbound rule I configured 808028088. I added the same configuration on portal network security group.
You can see it here. I am using the same put here to access the website. Let me open this voice disk and you can see here I am using HDD standard. Let me close everything and I’m going to run sysprep tool. For this I need to open command line and I’ll change my directory to sysprep directory which is inside system 32.
I’ll type in sysprep.exe here. I’ll check generalize and for insert down options I’ll select sert down then I’ll click OK. It will take some time and then I’ll be automatically disconnected from this virtual machine. Now I’ll navigate virtual machine and I’ll click on capture.
I’ll create a new resource group to store my virtual machine image. I can change this name too and then I’ll click on create again. This will take some time and this is successful. Let’s move on and check. We can see all successful message here. I am first resource group here and you can see a new resource group developer VM image and here is our image. Let me navigate to my virtual machine again and I’ll delete this virtual machine because this is generalized now and I won’t be able to access this. I can safely delete it and the delete is successful now. I can delete this OS disc also. This was the disc we were using,I’ll delete it. This is successful too.
This is a private IP and we don’t need this so let’s delete it too. For everything we have we can reuse it in new virtual machine. I’ll click to close it and in develop VM image,I’ll select the image and you can see a UPS and create VM. I’ll click on this and then I’ll enter my virtual machine name. I’ll select this type to SSD and type in my username and then password. I’ll select my existing resource group,HD DVM demo resource group and I’ll click on OK. Now I need to select the virtual machine size and I’ll select here d2 sv3 a standard,it is the first one.
I’ll select my adjusting resources. Here is a virtual network,you can click on it and you can see it SD DVM demo v-net and subnet and public IP address here. I’ll reuse it again. I don’t want to create a new one so I’ll reuse it and network security group. For the auto-shutdown I am going to set it to OFF and for diagnostic stories I’ll select my existing stories account and then I’ll click on OK.
Now this is the final summary of my all selection and I’ll click on OK. It will take some time to create new virtual machine with the image we have. This virtual machine will be created on SSD disk earlier we had on STD. The deployment is successful now. I’ll close it. I’ll close it and you can see my new virtual machine here and I am going to click it. I’ll click on connect and I’ll enter my username and password.
Now I’ll be on my virtual machine. I’m opening this virtual machine for the first time and now I am on desktop. Let’s check out the existing software we have. I’ll click on start and you’ll see I have all the software including Visual Studio 2017. Let me click on it. You can also see chrome icon on desktop and let’s open server manager. In tools I have already configured and expand SSD VM one server here and expand sites. You can see demo website here too. If I explore it,you will see all the files which we had earlier. Now let me open the firewall.
I’m going to show you my firewall configuration which we had in earlier machine. In inbound rule you can see the port H 0 H 0 to H 0 edit. Now let me close it. If I opened my public IP on Putin,you will see that my public IP has been changed. If I click on configuration,you will see that I have dynamic. If I had a static earlier this won’t changed. Now to open this web site or services,I need to use my new IP edges.
