Today I’m going to talk about some advantages of one of my favorite cards on the market,it is one of my favorite starter card,that is the chase freedom. If you’re getting into travel hacking or you’re someone with limited credit or you’re young,if you’re trying to rebuild your credit,the chase freedom is a fantastic card for a couple of different reasons.
First and foremost,it’s part of the chase program. If you use chase freedom card,you’re going to be able to earn cashback bonus or you’re going to be able to earn points. If you have different Chase cards such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred,the points will become tremendously more valuable,you can transfer them out to a lot of different programs. If you have the Chase freedom card,it’s going to be cash back. But if you’re able to combine it with some different chase cards,it’s going to be very valuable.
It has a good signup bonus. The signup bonus can be anywhere from 150 dollars all the way up to 250 dollars cash for getting the card and usually with a very low spending threshold. In this case,you only have to spend $500 to get that signup bonus and that’s easy for a lot of people to do within three months.
I like the Chase freedom specifically if you have those other cards such as the Chase Sapphire. The earning of it is not too great,you’re going to earn 1% on every single transaction where it becomes valuable. Every three months,the card is going to rotate and they’re going to pick a different set of categories where you can earn 5% back.
Around the holiday season,that’s usually going to be something like online shopping,they can earn bonus in places like Walmart or amazon.com,sometimes they have 5% back at restaurants or entertainment. If you go out to places like the movies,sometimes it’s on things like home improvement.
The cool thing is that these categories rotate every three months,if you’re aware of that,you’re able to earn a lot of points,you’re going to earn as cashback,you can transfer to some of the other chase programs.
On top of that,the card has two big zero numbers that I like. First is the zero dollar annual fee. You don’t have to pay anything to have the card,this is a great card that you can get early on and you can keep it forever.
It is going to help you increase your credit score,you’re going to have access to a line of credit that you don’t necessarily mean to use. You’re not going to have to spend money every year to keep that credit line open.
The other zero that I want to talk about is that it comes with zero percent interest usually for a term of 15 months. You have to be careful with this because if you get the credit card and you charge some money on the card and then you come to month 15 and you don’t pay it back in full,they will actively charge you for that past 15 months of interest.
If you’re looking at making a new purchase and you know for certain that you’re going to have the cash to pay back for the money that you put on the card,zero percent Interest is a great way that you can reduce debt on your other cards or make a large purchase and pay it back with no added penalties or fees.
If you’re a beginner,you can get this card or you can get the discover it card,but I prefer to chase freedom card,it is a little bit better,you’re able to combine it once you get other chase cards such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred.
You’re able to transfer those points to a handful of different airlines and a handful of different hotel partners to get some good redemptions. Earning 5% on the rotating categories is the strongest area aside from the zero dollar,there is no annual fee on the card.
