Today we’re going to be setting up two accounts to go to register for college board, and then we’re going to access your Khan Academy account through Garland ISD and develop a personalized PSAT prep program, the first thing that you’ll need to do is to open a Chrome browser, this won’t work in Internet Explorer.
Navigate to WW College Borg, you should see a screen, click on sign up, next click on I am a student, you’ll need to complete all these fields using your exact official personal information, it should match what’s in Skyward regarding your email address, you may use either your personal email address or the gmail address provided to you through skyward.
Use the email address that you have used most frequently, regarding your high school graduation date, enter the month of June and then if you’re a junior, enter 2017 sophomores 2018 freshmen 2019 and eighth graders 2020, enter your home zip code, and type in the first few letters of your current school and your school will appear in a drop-down menu.
Select your school from that drop-down menu, regarding your username and password, it’s very important that you write down the username and password that you create in a place, you won’t lose them, in the notes section of your phone, the College Board account that you’re setting up today will be the same College Board account until you are senior in high school.
Your username will consist of the letter S, and if by some chance your username is already taken typically, you can drop the S and that will work as your username, your password will be a modification of your birthday, so we would like for you to use the first three letters of your birth month, the numbers of your birthday and the four numbers of your birth year.
For example, if you are born on August 12th 1999, your password will be aug 1 2 1 9 9 9, write this username and password down in the safe place, next choose a security question and an answer that we would like for you, to skip all the parent information you can fill this out later, it is a Serie that you agree with the Terms and Conditions.
The next button will turn blue and click the blue Next button, you’ll need to check the accuracy of the information that you’ve submitted, so click each one of these boxes to make sure that the information is correct, if incorrect, click Edit to fix the mistake, when you have finished, the confirm button will turn blue.
Click the blue confirm button, it’ll take about 10 seconds after you’ve done that, and you’ll see a screen that looks a lot like this, it’ll say big future, click here where it says PSA 10 and PSAT 8 9 scores, you’ll see a page that looks like this, simply click on the blue add scores button, you’ll return to the page that you’re at before or you’re entering your personal information.
Scroll down until about two-thirds the way down the screen, till you get to the part that says personal information here, complete your official street address, city and state exactly as it appears in skyward, here’s an example of how to fill out this portion of the form, scroll to the bottom of the form and click the blue Update button.
At this point, you should be able to see your scores, there will be a few of you who are unable to see your scores, you either need to correct some information on the form or you may need to call College Board to ask them to help you see your scores, so we have finished with part 1, let’s move on to part 2.
Now open a new browser tab in chrome, don’t close this window, navigate to your campus website, click on the academics link in the top banner, underneath the name of your school on the right hand side, you can find the clever link under online resources, click on this clever link, the clever link is located on the lower left hand side.
If you’re on an iPad, you should see a screen that looks a lot like this, you’re going to enter your username and your ID number and your password is your pin, it’s the same things that you have logged on to your PC or at your school PC, you’re going to click on the Khan Academy icon, and the answer to this first question is to click no I need to create a new Khan Academy account, the answer to this question is not.
Now it’s not rolling a question, you can enter your email later, go ahead and click Save, you can change your avatar later, some of you may not be prompted to select an avatar, click Save now, then locate the letters SAT under the column for test prep, and click on the SAT link, your zip code can be your home or your school.
Then click next, the answer is to this question, then click update in the bottom right hand corner, you’re closed to finish, click in and watch the magic happen, as your Khan Academy account is linked to your College Board account, you will need to click a screen that pops up that says allow, please click allow after you click the green send button.
At this point, if you’ve followed all the steps correctly, you’ll see a screen that looks like this, and your two accounts are now linked and you have a personalized study plan through Khan Academy, you can click display your scores to verify that you’ve linked your accounts, if you can see your scores then your accounts are linked.
You should be able to see your PSAT scores and you’ll be able to see any upcoming PSAT or SAT scores from the College Board suite of assessments, now we want you to spend a little time exploring what Khan Academy has to offer you, for every 10 hours of studying that you put in, that raises your score about 30 points on average.
