I’m back with a little bit of a Costco haul for you. Now you may be wondering what happened, why did we go and get a Costco membership again, but we did not, this isn’t a membership haul, you remember that last year we canceled our membership. We love Costco, but personally, it was a major spending trigger for us, every time we went into Costco, we spent at least $400, so that’s why we canceled our membership in order to see how it would feel.
And we found out that , if you compare the cost per unit, you will find the items we buy at Costco are more expensive than other places. But there are two things which I’m about to show you are cheaper than anywhere else.
Let me show you the stuff and then I’ll tell you how we are able to do this. So one of the items that we haven’t been able to find cheaper anywhere is olive oil. So we went ahead and picked that up on our no membership hall and the second item that I haven’t been able to find cheaper anywhere else is this B vitamin, B12 vitamin. Now I can find B12 vitamins anywhere, but these ones really work for me.
I am very particular about the supplements that I take, last time I was able to order it on Amazon. There are 300 in here, and I take one everyday, so this will last a bit. I picked up some Kavita kombucha, I love this stuff and I typically get this at Kroger’s. Another thing we picked up here is the kids gummy vitamins, my kids take these daily. We got some bananas, two things of milk, some mouthwash, some berries, some raspberries and two things of blueberries.
I got my pink salt and then some Italian dressing olive garden which is good, but expensive as well, I feel it is a good treat to have it once in a while. We picked up two of these and then we got some Fellman, which my kids love and then we got five free loaves of bread, my oldest son is gluten free and he loves this bread. If you try to buy this somewhere else, you will get half the size for twice as much money, so we did get five of these, and they were fried well, so these are the two things we talk about today, the vitamin B12 and the olive oil.
And the last thing we did was that my middle son went to pay everything, he’s a daddy and he had the card, so we ended up buying a $300 gift card on his account by paying $199, we had another $100 left, we joked on the way back home that we could never leave Costco without spending $400.
But now that we’ve been without membership for a year, when we went shopping now, we like to stick to the list and we ended up only spending $200 this time. So I guess you know that little break from Costco was nice and according to respond, if you go over the card, they let you use cash or debit card, but you can’t use credit card, so this was a nice experiment.
Today we have $100 left and we may have to do this again, it’s worth going with our friend and getting a couple of gift cards. We got vitamins, olive oil and bread and then we picked up a few extra things, so it was nice.
It was fun, it worked out, so I thought I’d share it with you, I’ll see you in the next one. Thanks for reading.
