Description: The article is about digital readworks org student. The content shows us something about Partnerships between LPS and ReadWorks. The LPS application is a tool for product developers and designers to use to understand the learning science research and has the functions on deciding how they design their products.
Reid works always had this vision of integrating students and teachers into this platform, we always had researchers who guided us and informed how we develop a product and it’s been great, but the Israel promise partnership that it’s dovetail nicely with our changing technology strategy.
The learner positioning systems initiative or LPS is about understanding and distilling of the learning science research, we’ve never had the bandwidth to address some of the other factors like cognition and social-emotional learning.
An LPS has helped us find a way to integrate that into our tech features and into earth tools and also into our content, there are decades of research across learning science, Neuroscience, psychology and sociology about how kids learn, how they vary and how they learn, so what we’re trying to do is to focus on digesting all of that research and creating what we’re calling learner models that makes sure that if you are going to personalize learning.
This is what the research says you should personalize and this is how you can personalize to make sure you’re supporting the full diversity of learners, not the mythical average learner.
We were able to apply what we were learning immediately and it’s already impacted products that we were in the middle of building it immediately impacted our road map our immediate road map and also our lone long-term vision.
There’s no promise that helped us clarify that backlog prioritize, we prioritize the backlog based on visual promises input, we have this learner model of all this research, we brought that to read works and integrated that into their design process.
So they’re trying to figure out what are the next features, they should design in where should they focus, if they want more kids to succeed in their platform, what does the research say? They should focus on and design.
So our new platform integrates students and it allows us to both see what they’re doing in terms of what assignments they’re completing, what teachers are using elements of our curriculum, they’re leveraging with their students and how they’re doing it.
I can say with great confidence that particularly our curriculum team and our content team by engaging with the digital promise team, when we start to engage with our engineers and with our visual designers and our UX people, they have a much more sophisticated approach and they’re much better prepared so that our entire flow is much more efficient and we’re able to create things.
I think at a higher level and much more quickly, so the LPS application is a tool for product developers and designers to use to understand the learning science research and have that impact how they design their products and to make sure that it supports the full diversity of learners, taking the time and the effort to invest in our platform in this way.
It is all about the impact that we want to have and the vision that we have for closing the achievement gap and addressing the reading comprehension crisis in this country, being able to apply the research not from the reading comprehension standpoint, but also from the cognition standpoint, the social-emotional learning standpoint, I think it will allow us to get even closer to that goal.
