The environment recycling is going green, it’s on everyone’s radar these days, but I’ll bet you never considered the benefits that could have on your business. Today I’m going to give you five reasons why you may want to make your company green in a moment.
I’m Victoria, welcome to power tips TV where we talk about tips tactics and techniques to help you build a strong profitable remodeling company, today I drove by a remodeling site and I saw a dumpster that was so packed, it was overflowing much of the debris that was tumbling over the sides or materials that could easily be recycled.
But instead, they were loaded up to go to the landfill, because I’m such an avid recycler of everything, I can get my hands on this, it made me sick to see at that moment, it hit me clearly.
If I had to choose between two remodelers, both offering similar services and price points with the only difference being that one recycled jobsite wastes and the other didn’t.
I’d choose the company that recycled, in fact, I’d pay more for that company, I’m not alone according to an EPA estimate remodeling and renovation generate over 61 million tons of waste each year.
You may think about those landfills now instead of throwing all that waste away, let’s recycle or reuse it, recycling is not a theory or a good idea, it’s a way of life, it’s easy to throw an empty coke can into the blue bin or bundle up your newspapers.
But what about floor joists doors cabinet sinks and other debris that most of the time ends up going in the landfill, you may guess what all those materials can be recycled, not everyone of us has a recycling plan in place even though there are many benefits.
Let’s talk about a few recycling prevents pollution now, here’s an interesting statistic that I came across, recycling 35 percent of our trash reduces toxic emissions equal to 36 million cars taken off the road, that’s a big impact recycling conserves natural resources, such as timber, water and minerals.
Here’s an example, throwing away a single can versus recycling it is like pouring out six ounces of gasoline, last year Americans recycled enough aluminum cans to conserve the energy equivalent of more than 15 billion barrels of oil.
Recycling can boost employee morale, studies have shown that people like to work for environmentally friendly organizations and they’re more likely to stay at a company that implements these sustainable practices adding recycling to your standard.
Operating procedures can help your entire community, numerous studies show that recycling creates thousands of jobs and communities across the country, the more people who are working means more people who want nice homes.
You’re the key to that dream, you can save money, you might be easier and less expensive to divert your job site waste from the landfill than to dispose of it sending materials for reuse.
It often doesn’t cost a contract or anything and recycling fees are generally lower than disposal fees, it’s different in every state, but that’s the rule, what I found is that each state and each region has different options, take some time to investigate the various avenues that you have for recycling available near you.
Lastly, the environment is in the news big time these days and that news is generating more and more interest from homeowners, studies show more and more people are concerned about the environment, they’re taking steps in their personal lives to make a difference.
What they also want to do business with those companies that share this point of view by implementing recycling practices, you’ll be adding one more reason for homeowners to choose you rather than your competitor.
If you have a recycling and reuse program already in place, it is going to be starting one soon, be sure to let your clients and prospective clients know about it, they’ll help spread the word to others who also think it’s important to add it to your job site sign to let the entire community know about your waste management program and your efforts to donate usable materials.
If you have a recycling or reuse program in place, I want to know about it, please tell us about where your challenges and your successes have come in, what’s working for you and if this is your first time here, please become a power tips TV subscriber and be sure to visit remodelers at Vantage comm and join the thousands who are already part of us working together to earn more and work less.
