Welcome to another Pasadena City College training screen cast, this screen cast will cover the Chronos time tracking system for hourly employees, this short tutorial will be divided into three brief sections, logging on to Chronos, punching in and out of your time card and approving your time card.
Let’s get started, the first thing you want to do is to open up an internet browser on a campus computer, you’ll want to go to Pasadena City Colleges website at pasadena.edu and then you’ll want to scroll to the bottom of the page and look for the staff services link.
Click that and the staff services page focuses on the login box, the upper left corner of the page and then find the Chronos link there and click that, we are on the Chronos logon page where you simply need to enter your username and password.
Your username is your first initial plus your middle initial plus your last name as it appears in your paycheck, so your name was Larry ale answer like this and your username would simply be l.a lancer as simple as that.
Let’s go ahead and enter that into the username field now your password, the first time you log in is going to be the word welcome, you’ll be required to change this password, the first time you log in, so as always choose something only you know and keep it safe.
If you have any problems logging in, talk to your supervisor for help, but what if Larry Lancer doesn’t have a middle name, what would he use for middle initial, my name is a ready answer, the answer again is quite simple, we’ll use the letter X and your username would simply be L X Lancer as simple as that.
Once you log on to Chronos, you’ll be presented with this timestamp page and the only two things you need to concern yourself with, here are the log off after stamping, check box and this record time stamp button.
The easiest way to punch in or punch out of your time card is to leave this box checked and click the record time stamp button, you’ll be immediately logged off Kronos, you’ve punched in for your shift to punch-out, log back into Kronos and click the record time stamp button.
If you’d like to stay logged in after punching in or punching out, you have the option of unchecking this log off after stamping box, when you punch in or punch out of Kronos, you’ll remain logged in, you can review your time card by going to the my information menu and then selecting my time card, you’ll then be presented with the my time card screen where you can review your time card before we can approve our time card.
We’re going to check to make sure all our hours are accurate and there are no errors in the time card, such as this red block here which indicates that Larry forgot to punch out on Wednesday.
He’s going to have to ask his supervisor to correct that before he can approve his time card also notice on Monday, Larry worked from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or giddy, it seems that he worked until 12:01 p.m. one minute over five hours.
Why is this important? Because if you work one minute over five hours, the system will automatically subtract 30 minutes from your time card, notice here Larry is only going to get paid for four point five two hours, so Larry’s going to have to talk to his supervisor if he wants to resolve this.
We’ve had a chance to resolve all our issues approving our time card is quite simple, simply select the approvals menu and then click approve, you can verify that your time card was approved by checking under the my time card title, you’ll notice that the time of your approval has been stamped, thanks for learning.
