Description: The article covers the topic of la fitness employee portal. The author has been working with LA Fitness and doing membership sales for LA Fitness. He is willing to share his experience of working with LA Fitness with a pros and cons list. He will tell us why his experience has been positive.
It’s Jesse, thank you so much for your time, I am leaving for Fargo North Dakota in six days and that means that tomorrow is the last day of my job, I’ll be working tomorrow and that will give me a couple days to finish packing and get ready to go.
But I thought it might be valuable to make a video about my experience with the job I’ve been working at, so I’ve currently been working with LA Fitness, I’ve been doing membership sales for LA Fitness.
Before I took this job, I did some research to look at the overall happiness of people that have worked with this company, I’ll share with you that most of the reviews that I saw from people that work in my current position, they are mostly very negative reviews about working for LA Fitness.
While I understand why that might be the case, I would like to share my experience of working with LA Fitness, I’ll say generally it was positive I made a pros and cons list and I like to share those things.
First of all, I said I sold memberships and it is a sales job, so a lot of people that don’t like working for LA Fitness probably don’t like sales, if you don’t, get the hang of the shop, you might want to reconsider whether or not you want to do sales.
In general, it is a big part, this is my first con on my pros and cons list, a big con is that a very big part of your job is making phone calls, it is not fun to make phone calls, they’re not exactly cold calls, but they are phone calls that tend to annoy people.
So with any sales job, you’re going to make phone calls and LA Fitness is no exception, so if you don’t want to make any phone calls, if you don’t like to bug people on the phone, then you’re not going to like LA Fitness.
But it’s a very necessary part of the job, if you make your phone calls, you’ll be fine, you’ll make your sales, if you make your phone calls and my second con is the amount of pressure at a job like this sale comes with pressure.
Pressure is part of the territory, when you’re doing any sort of sales job, there is a pressure to perform, sales is very competitive and the fitness industry is extremely competitive.
So the pressure is high, but at the same time, it is a gym, so that kind of pressure is either going to push you to perform well and you’ll excel under that kind of pressure or you’re going to do the opposite.
You’re going to stop caring about the job altogether, because it’s a gym and it’s going to feel funny to be stressed out about your sales, when the sales is for something as easy as a gym membership.
So I personally didn’t care for the kind of pressure that comes along with this job, I’ve been doing sales for a while now and I’ve sold things that are much harder to sell than gym memberships.
The pressure was higher, so I think that I was ready for that high pressure, but at the same time, it doesn’t mean that it’s certainly not a healthy kind of pressure and like I said, it’s going to push you to either perform and you’re going to thrive or you’re going to realize what sales isn’t for me.
I would recommend that you have a thick skin not necessarily, because you’re going to get a lot of rejection from people that you’re trying to sell memberships to, but you’re going to get a lot of rejection from your boss.
If you’re not able to close a sale, if you’re not able to get somebody signed up, be prepared to get a lot of scrutiny, you should have done this, why didn’t you do this? It sucks like losing a sale, it is a drag without having to constantly go and face your boss.
It sucks when you watch your boss constantly lose sales, so it’s not that, they’re necessarily better sales people than you are, it’s the pressure that makes people a little bit crazy, I have this job.
My next con is that working in sales and working in the fitness industry, it can be a little bit of a boys club, if you’re a girl and you’re thinking about getting into sales, that girls tend to do very well in sales especially in the fitness industry.
If you’ll do well, if you’re a girl especially if you put yourself together in the morning, you take some time to make your comb, your hair, put some mascara on, but you’re going to be working around a lot of men, a lot of very competitive men.
You’re going to have to get used to that if you want to be in sales, it is a little bit more like that in the fitness industry in gyms, it’s not my favorite part of the job, it comes with the territory.
My next con is that the schedule sucks, I don’t know many people at LA Fitness that having good schedule even if you’re working Monday through Friday, your hours are long or inconsistent or both.
So I wouldn’t recommend this job for people that are looking for a steady schedule, they’ll change the schedule on you and not even give you time or notice to change your personal life around.
It’s a full-time job, it’s only 40, it’s 40 hours, but you don’t get much, you don’t get a lot of time to adjust if the schedule is going to change.
My last con is that the pay is low, the pay is low for how hard the job is, it is a very hard job, there’s a lot that is required of you and the pay is low for the amount of stuff that you have to do on the daily basis.
So those are probably a lot of reasons why people have hated their job at LA Fitness, now I’m going to share why my experience has generally been positive, while I had my fair share of cons, I hated the things that this job has to offer, I feel like for me outweighed the cons first Pro.
It is great experience if you are looking to gain some experience in marketing in sales in business-to-business sales, because some of the job is business-to-business, if you want to get a foot in the door in the fitness industry, it’s a good place to do it, because everybody starts at the same level, everybody starts entry levels, so that’s nice.
You don’t have to have a ton of sales experience to get the job, I had some sales experience, so I think that helped, but if you’re looking to gain some experience and get it foot in the door, I think LA Fitness is a great place to do that.
There’s a lot of upward mobility, so everybody starts entry level which for me is nice, I love that, everybody has to work their way up and my last con where I was talking about the pay being very low.
Once you start to climb that ladder a little bit, your income triples, so it’s worth it for some people to put in that work and put in their time in an entry-level position, then work your way up, so a lot of people that take this job at LA Fitness, if you go in with a mindset, I know this first couple of months are going to be rough.
But I’m going to work hard and get promoted, then that might be a better way to look at it, instead, it’s a sales job, look at it as more of a management, management possibilities.
The other thing that I liked about working at le Fitness is that I love the fitness industry, it’s a passion of mine, if you’re looking into becoming a personal trainer at all, LA Fitness is something that you might want to look into the personal trainers.
You do not have to go out and get their own clients. There are men that do that for you, they sell the training packages, so what all personal trainers have to focus on is training their clients.
I think that’s awesome, if you’re looking to be a personal trainer or if you’re looking for a place that has good personal training, le fitness is good, all you’re getting a lot of attention from the people that you’re working with.
The other thing is that you get a free membership when you work for LA Fitness and there are a lot of locations, it happens to not be any locations in Fargo North Dakota, but it’s a good part of the reason why I’m quitting is that the job hasn’t been a very good fit.
I’m in my life, so I hope that my pros and cons list has been somewhat helpful, if anybody has any questions about LA Fitness or working in the fitness industry or working in sales, I’d be happy to answer them.
I do have a lot of experience in sales, I’ve sold some weird things over the year, over the last couple years and have learned a lot, so I would love to share or my experience and knowledge, I hope this has been helpful, because I’m going to start my journey in a couple days, so I hope everybody has a good day and we’ll see you next time.
