Today we’re going to do a review on Fidelity’s online trading application. This is an application that you can download if you have an account with fidelity. If you don’t have an account with them, you can open up a free retirement account with them or you can open up an investment account for a minimum account of twenty five hundred dollars.
Once you download the application, you’re going to see this on your page when you log in. It’s going to give you some information on the US market, you can see the SP 500, the Dow Jones and Nasdaq. When you first log into your account, it’s going to go ahead and ask you a couple different questions on what information you want to see on your Newsfeed. You’re going to get information on this page.
If you’re interested in a specific industry, if you’re interested in technology, it’s going to show up on this Newsfeed, let’s go to accounts. You’re going to see a basic summary of your accounts such as your total account balance, your recent account history in terms of progress. If you had this account for more than a year, it’ll show you the different time spans within your account history.
You’re also going to see your asset allocation. Depending on your investments in stocks, you can do domestic or foreign stocks bonds, the type of asset strategy is going to show up on this bar chart. You’re going to see the top three bset performers and the top three worst performers of your current investment portfolio on this section, it is a cool to keep track of your individual investments.
For more details on your portfolio, you’re going to click positions, it’s going to take you to your portfolio. You can see all your different investments on the left-hand side, you have access to your quantity and the amount of shares you hold. You’re going to see this nice little trend line, that shows you daily performance of your current stocks or bonds.
You also have access to the total gains and loss. You’re going to see the basic overview of your portfolio such as how well it’s doing for the current year. If it’s negative, it’s going to show up at red, if it’s positive, it’s going to show up in total green.
You can go to balances, you’re going to get some more information on your total value such as how much cash you have at hand. That’s the place where you can see how much balances you have in total. If you click on balances, it’s going to take you to a place where it shows orders, pending transactions and histories.
Orders are going to show you all your transactions, it’s going to show up under orders. When you deposit funds into your accounts, it takes around three days for your funds to process and it’ll go into history. Once you can see the history, that means your transaction has already been processed.
Let’s go ahead and click on watchlist. You’re going to get a different page of different stocks that you can look at. If you want to keep track of certain stocks, you can go ahead and enter the stock symbol. If you want to keep track of apple, you’re going to go ahead and click apple, you can go ahead and click watchlist, it’s going to take you to the page to watchlist.
You can go back to go watchlist. If you want to do some more in-depth research on a specific company, you’re going to go ahead and click on their name, you can view more details, you are going to get more access to all the information that you can get for the company such as company ratings or stock charge.
Once you decide to buy some stocks or buy shares, you’re going to go ahead and click trade, it’s going to take you to a separate page where you can enter the stock symbol, you can enter the quantity amount and you can submit your order on that page.
If you want to deposit funds, you’re going to go ahead and click transfer, it’s going to take you to a page linked to your bank account, you can transfer money into your account. If you have a physical check on hand, you can click on deposit checks, it’s going to have you take a picture of your check, you can deposit money into your account, that’s useful, it is a helpful tool, it’s very easy to use.
Let’s go ahead and click more. You’re going to get some more settings on menus. There are some different stuff that you can look at such as market research. Learning Center is good if you want to learn something on investment. You can click research, it is going to show you a different couple stock price quotes, undervalued and overvalued companies, I like this page, you can click start a screen, it’ll take you to an ETF screen.
If you’re interested in investing in ETFs, this is a great place to look up some well-performing ETFs. You have access to different market capitalization sectors or fixed income. If you want to do large-cap, mid-cap or small cap, you can click on one of these icons, it’ll take you to a list where there are plenty of different other investment ETFs within this category.
The green little means that ETF is Commission free under fidelity. If you purchase bank card, you have to pay a transaction fee of $495, that goes for any transaction except the ones which have the green icon that says they’re authorized by fidelity.
It’s a very good application to use especially if you’re always on the go. If you don’t have access to your computer, you can always keep track of your investments in this application, you can also do your current trading through this application. I hope that was useful.
