I’m going to show you how to insulate your garage door so you can stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The first thing that you need to do to get started is to figure out how much insulation you’re going to need for your garage door.
Each one of these kits that I have is going to cover a single car garage, since this is a three car garage, you’re going to need three kits. There are a few other side tools that you’re going to need, this is a tape measure, this is knife or razor.
Let’s go ahead and take a look at what comes in one of these insulation kits. By taking a look inside this insulation kit, you’re going to get a total of eight pieces of insulation that are 54 inches long by 22 inches wide in about 200 quarters of an inch thick.
They also give you these clips, this is going to hold the insulation onto the garage door,so you definitely don’t want to get rid of these. They also hook you up with a pair of gloves that you can use while you’re installing this stuff. That’s what comes inside each kit, let’s go ahead and hand over the garage,I’ll show you guys how to install this.
The first thing that you need to do is to install two clips for each section of your garage door. Each one of these squares is going to receive a clip, for that they give you these little adhesive stickers, you can go ahead and take one of them, you can stick it in the center.
Some people like measuring over and trying to get the exact center on it,but I think that’s a waste of time when I can eyeball it. I’m going to go ahead and stick these on. From here,I can go ahead and peel off the cover on the front of these stickers,it’s a matter of sticking my clip on the center of that.
With both of my clips in salt,I want to go ahead and measure the garage door panel so I can cut the insulation. It’s about 47 inches long and the height is about 21. With the insulation cut the size,I can go ahead and set it in place. I have it in place,I want to go ahead and feel around to see where that clip is,I want to make a small slice that I can stick through.
My clip is coming through from the backside,I am going to stick another clip and stick it on from the front side, that’s going to lock it in place. With that in place,I want to go ahead and do the same thing for my other clip. I have this one in place,it’s a matter of following the same process for the rest of the garage.
It’s a simple process to insulate your garage door, you may be wondering how much is this going to cost, each of those boxes costs around $90,mine was a total of $270 since I had a three-car garage. But if you have a two-car garage,it’s going to run you about $180,those are probably more common.
It’s not a woodworking project,I’ll pick those tutorials next week. I thought it was something that I would share with you. I’m sure a lot of people are interested in how to do this by themselves.
