Description: Here’s an article about amazon-credit-card-payment, which shows you how to fill in the Amazon Merch tax information interview so that you don’t have to pay any withholding tax. This method is only for people outside of the US.
Today I’m going to show you how to pay zero percent tax on Amazon Merch and how to fill in your tax information interview. When you finish up you’ll be paying no tax on your monthly payments.
If you’re a non-us seller, you have to be someone using Amazon Merch that’s based outside of America. If you’re in America I can’t help you. You have to pay but I’m a UK style in particular. I made a beer last week saying how Amazon charged me 30% tax off my first monthly payment.
The responses I got from you was incredible. You told me how to fix her. I’m going to give back the information to you how to setup and emerge as a non-us seller and not pay any tax. Let’s jump straight into it.
I’m logged in to Amazon. We can see my tax information here. It’s set to 0%. Before that was set to 30 percent withholding tax. I’ll show you what I did to change this to 0%.
You want to log into mobile Amazon. Go to the my account area and click down to tax information. If you’ve already filled this in a thick scent you want to press update tax information. Or if you haven’t already filled it in, there’s going to be a button that says take tax interview.
You’re going to click a button on this tax information screen to go into the settings. You can set your rate to 0%. You press this take interview. There are the questions you’re going to see that you cannot answer to basically tell everything that you’re not a u.s. seller and how to not pay tax.
What we’re going to do is to start off. I’m a sole proprietor. I’m an individual. I haven’t got a huge business. I’m running. You press individual and for tax purposes. You’re going to say no. On the next question I do not live in America so press save and continue.
This is the most important screen. This is what I fill in incorrectly last time that resulted in me having to pay that 30 percent tax. What you need to do this time is to fill in correctly to be paying 0%.
If you’re up in America, you’re already feeling all this stuff out. You put yourself the individual country of citizenship. You choose your country. For me it’s United Kingdom. Choose wherever you live, put your full name and address details.
I’ve taken mine out. Mailing address is probably the same as your payment address. You’re going to say no I’m not acting as an agent. Into me degree I’m acting as myself so you can express that.
You don’t tick any of these boxes. Because if you take any of these it’s going to register you as a American citizen and tax you on the American rates. If you’re from outside America you don’t take any of these boxes.
But this is where I filled this in currently last time. I do not have a US tax information number or a foreign income tax identification. I clicked that last time and it set me to theta sin. This time what I did is that I put a foreign income tax identification number. It needs to know that you’re going to do your own taxes in your own country.
I’ve got my own tax number in the UK. Click this box and press save and continue. When you get to the next screen and go to put your tax information number in there, don’t worry. If you were the UK and you don’t know what your tax number is, I’ll give you a solution to that in a second.
But all you need to do is that you’re going to scroll down to UK. Click that box and scroll down. It’s going to ask you for your non-us tax identification number. If you’re in the UK you may be thinking what is this. The first time I did this I had no idea what my tax number is.
But from what you’ve all told me, you can put your National Insurance number in this box. Pop your National Insurance number in there and take this box after press save and continue. Amazon will say congratulations.
I’m a zero percent tax bracket. We’re not going to charge you any tax and Amazon will be set up to not tax me in the future. This is where the confusion comes. You need to have a foreign income tax identification code as a notification number. Because if you don’t put that in, Amazon’s going to default tax you thirty percent.
You need to have a foreign number no matter where you are in the world. If you’re in the UK, you can have your National Insurance number. If you’re in any other country in the world, you’re going to have to find out what your tax number is and put it in that box.
That’s where the important part is. If you’re outside the US you need to put a number in this box to tell us that Amazon’s not to tax you. If you’re in the UK you can put your National Insurance number in there. If you’re in anywhere else in the world you’ll have to find out what your local tax identification number is and put it in there.
Because if you don’t put a number on this screen, Amazon is going to tax you about thirty percent. This is the most important part of the process. Make sure you put a number in this box and press save and continue.
Amazon will take you to the final screen saying you are now set up to not pay any tax. I hope that’s been useful. When I figured lots of other people will probably have the same problem, I was as emerged as a UK seller and resulted in me paying no tax.
If you have any problems setting up your tax or you have known a different way, let me know in the comments box below and I’d be interested in hearing about different approaches and things that work for different people.
Or if you’ve had problems doing it this way, let me know as well. I will tell you how I fixed my problem at UK. I hope you found this useful.
