This is an online classroom tour of GCU, which shows you the basic facility of classroom, and the curriculums of the school life in GCU (Grand Canyon University).
Today I want to show you a little bit about my life and I wanted to share something really exciting with you, we got Joe in high school in 2013 and I took a year off, I felt like I needed to take that time to find myself.
But that year off was good for me, I enjoyed it and I felt like I learned a lot, maybe I wouldn’t have learned if I was in college, but I recently sent an application to Grand Canyon University through online and I was accepted so I’m now doing the summer program for Grand Canyon University and I’m so excited and happy to be back in school because I feel like I have a fresh start.
And today I want to show you what I’ve been up to with my schooling, I’m trying to show you as much as possible, for it just being a computer screen, the quality might be horrible.
This is the main classrooms, as you can see, it’s like a calendar and it shows the assignments that I need to do for the week, we usually have like an assignment due on Wednesday and Friday, which is normal, two assignments due on Sunday and the assignments due in the middle of the week, those are just discussions and not hard at all, actually most of this aren’t that hard, but the assignments tend to be more time-consuming than the discussions.
That’s my teacher’s name, Marty path, it took me one or two weeks to pronounce her last name, and it seemed like that she didn’t even worry about it, I scroll down, and it shows the last three assignments that I did and the grades I got. I did two discussions today, and they have already been graded, which makes me happy, the last assignment that I finished last Sunday.
As you can see, I think I’m doing good considering how I used to do in high school, it made me really happy because I didn’t think I would be so successful in college. These are our forums, usually the teacher writes here in order to get discussion points, you can go in here to get participation points for the week. You either go into the forums or the discussions, and you have to repond to two students four days a week, which means that eight posts for the whole week, that’s how you get your participation points as well as the points for the actual assignments.
As you can see, there are these tabs down here, we’ve got some announcements, she usually posts a new announcement at the beginning of each week, and she will tell us when she’s not going to be in the office, I’ve been in the school for several weeks and I have been to the office for a couple of times, which isn’t so bad.
We have some tasks here, but I haven’t done much yet because we haven’t had any quizzes and it tells you the assignments in five different places so I have no reason to click on that, these are all of our resources, a lot of which are redundant, because you can find course material in the syllabus, if I click on the syllabus, I would find everything.
We have a e-library which I think is really cool, it can find any resource that you need and it’ll be here and if you don’t find a resource you need in this library, they’ll like connect you to another campus’s library or a different library and they’ll help you find what you’re looking for, so they really try as hard as they can to help you get a good grade.
The class wall roster is not so relevant except for the first day, they want you to sign on it to let the teacher know that you are taking class. These are my grades so far, I got a hundred percent for the entire week, and that makes me happy. Apparently in college, if they tell you a certain amount of words that you can write, you have to stick to that, if you write more words than that, they dock you.
