Introduction to Office 365 Sway Portal

July 24, 2018

Description: The article is about the system which called office 365 portal. The article mentions about Microsoft sway. It is a part of office 365 and you can find it in the list of all your applications and use it for meeting your own need.

I am Peter the calcium of calcium.com business solutions. In this article I will talk to you about Microsoft sway. It’s marketed as part of office 365 and you can find it in the list of all your applications if you scroll down a bit here. You’ll find the sway here. They’re in an alphabetical order so it should be easy to find. If you are going into that you will be take into sway.com.

Now I’m logging in with my office 365 account. But you can also use this free of charge by using your Microsoft accounts. That’s another alternative. I’m going to skip this introduction and show it by myself. I’m logging in with my office 365 account.

When you are in sway, after you’re logged in,you will see your existing sways. It’s easy to fall into and PowerPoint lingo here and talk about presentation. But that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about sways. Those are your building sways. That’s what you do. If I had any existing sways those would be here. Here I can create a new one. I can start from templates or I can get inspired by other sways.

If you’re used to PowerPoint presentations as I am,you probably will feel the most familiar with starting from the business presentation template. You’re creating a presentation sway in this case. I’m in play mode,so I can go through this presentation sway. I will scroll it on the big link and start.

You are familiar with these topics which are very powerpointid. You can capture your audience, you can build interest, you can get a main point, you can prove that point with some supporting evidence and then evidently you will have a conclusion that sounds very business worthy.

Let’s go into start editing. It’s creating my version of this template. It is my copy of it. Here’s my first sway now. First of all I need to put a name to it. I’m going to call this office 365. That’s what I’m presenting. Your sway consists of cards. These are the cards. Each of these blocks are cards. You can insert new cards or edit the existing ones. You can see this little plus icon here, that means add a new card. If I click on plus,I will get different alternatives that I can do headings text media and so on.

The next thing I want to do is a add content. I need to find a video. Here are some places where I can find videos. I already have a bunch of videos on YouTube. So I can search here for build company Internet. Here are two of them. Let’s do this white one. I’ll drag that to here. I’ll call that introduction to SharePoint. That means you have added a new card now within the create interest group. We have groups and we have cards within that. Then inside each card you have content. So let’s play this now and see how that’s it goes.

First we have the create interest and then we’re getting into the office365. That’s the first one there. Then we are in my video eventually. I can play that and it’s playing within this context. Let’s script that. I’m back into the next part of the context. We’ll skip out of this and go into edit.

The next thing that you want to look at is designs. When you look at the design you usually don’t look so much at individual items. Let’s go back here to this one. In PowerPoint.you would focus on each of the items. But in this way you’re recommended and pushed towards working with styles. You can select general styles for the whole sway.

It is scrolling vertically,it goes from up to down horizontally or it goes from left to right. These are the main styles for that. You have a lot of different combinations there. You also have this interesting thing. It is the remix. You can change the design and layout. You can modify it. That’s an interesting way of playing around with your presentation until you find something that suits your needs.

I want to show you how to share this. It’s very simple. You CAN click on share and then decide who you’re going to share it with. You can share it with specific people or those in the organization with a link. It’s important to notice that the default is invite people to view but you can also allow them to edit.

Then you can get this. It is a direct link. You can get that official link. You can put it on Facebook,Twitter or Instagram and you can also get an embed code. You can embed them in other websites and there are more options and you can require them to login. That’s the sharing. That’s the quick creation over sway.
