There were various flavors of these messages with different numbers to call, card holders are asked to give their social security number, card number and PIN, the text message is going to individuals that have North Carolina’s Verizon cell phone numbers.
Sonya Horne is another SMI one phishing victim who contacted us about money, 167 dollars are stolen from her debit account, I called the SMI one, they said that there had been a fraudulent scam going on, that’s the worst time of year to have this happening.
Jackson County Social Services director Bob Cochran is the man responsible for a quick response in getting Brandy her money back, Mariana will have presence under the tree, social service officials can’t yet confirm if hackers were able to specifically target people with these debit cards.
