I’m Mitchell Chernykh with the American Pacific advance mortgage group in downtown Benicia California and since 1999, I have had the privilege to work with Native American Indians and what is called section 184 home mortgage financing and in the last 18 years I’ve had the opportunity to help many Native Americans gain homeownership.
I think that when you realize that we’re here to help create opportunities, it’s actually incumbent upon you to take the next step. The section 184 Native American lending program is for enrolled tribal members, there’s not a bloodline percentage. If you don’t have the card, I encourage you to call us and we’ll help you contact your membership counselors from whatever nation you’re in and our goal is to make sure that you gain home ownership.
This is an extremely low downpayment program, it does not take into consideration 100% these low credit scores that some people might have, so we are able to help people that ordinarily might not be able to be assisted in getting a home loan. Also it’s a renovation program you can buy a home that needs work and get the money for it and have the work done afterwards as long as you use a licensed contractor, you can even buy a piece of property and build a house on it.
It’s originally sovereign lending so this was actually meant for Native American Indian land and now it works on all lands, specifically in our state which is California called fee land, but we’re actually able to do this loan in 17 different states.
