Description: This is a tutorial which teaches you how to use the MVCS Parent Focus Portal to keep track on the grade, the performance of the child and get contact with the teacher.
There are a couple of things I want to point out to you on this portal page.
Click here, and this is the best way to get in touch with IET, if you have any problems with any of the technology in the campus, if you have a focus question, or if you have any additional questions about any technologies related, you can click here. If you click here, you will see a window coming up on which you can describe your problem, and please give us your student’s name as well as your name to help us.
As we are looking for what the problem would be, you can go down to the subject line and give us a subject, you can put in your email address as well, so we will know how to get back in touch with you in an RFS and give you a feedback on what may happen. When you are done, click Submit, and it would be automatically sent to by RFS. You will receive an e-mail confirmation.
Along the top, there’s a set of menus school information of billing, assignments and grades, here is a place with all messages, and here is a reminder about updating emergency contact information and on the right hand is the upcoming events. School events calendar will show up in the main part of the window.
At the area where it’s titled featured programs, you can see a list of your students scheduled, it shows the list of teachers, class name and a grade for each of those classes. Then on the right side of that, you will see checkboxes next to email address of each teacher, which you can use to email the teacher. Below the classes, you see the absences link, a calendar link as well as checkboxes in order to email attendance or the principle.
So when you click on a teacher, it will show you the online course of the teacher, and some pictures, and a number of handouts, which can help parents and students understand the teacher and choose the one that suits them best.
So if I click on the focus link, it will reload the portal page, each of the link of will take you to the specific online course. And after you get into, you can see the grades, click on the grade, it will lead you to the grade book view which shows you the column. Here you can see how many points you get, how many points the assignment is worth in the second column, the third column gives you the percentage. Any comment from the teacher may show up in the fourth column. The next column show you when the assignment is officially assigned and when it’s due. The last column shows you which category that assignment is in, so you can get a good view of how a student is doing.
If you want to know why a student grade is what it is, you can start here and you are able to ask some informed questions, you can decide whether to contact them. At the top, you will see the categories as well as the grades in each category.
So if you want to email the teacher, you can copy the email address and send them an email from the email program. If you are in a place where there are something that you are not comfortable doing, you can also click on the checkbox next to the email address, scroll down, it hides off the bottom of the page, you will see a form for filling out the email. All you need to do is to copy the email address, and send the copy of the email to a spouse, a family member or the student, then click the Submit. After they see the email, their response will be sent directly to your emial address.
Now I’m going to show you the link to calendar which is a good way to see an overview of all the assignments that child had. Pull up the current calendar and you can see the current date highlighted here, and here are all the assignments in all courses. If I click on this link, it will pull up a separate window which shows you the details of the assignments, the date, the teacher and course. But this only shows assignments that have been entered into the gradebook.
