Description: The following article is mainly focusing on giving us some useful procedures to create a FOCUS portal account, reminding us something when we have problems with the process of login and something that needed to be paid attention to.
I am going to introduce you that focus is a tool that can be used for several different aspects of your career development for the Freshman Seminar and College Success.
The instruction is going to center around using it for self assessment and career exploration, so the first thing you need to know is how you find this tool.
There are two ways to get to the link for focus, the first one is through blackboard, so if you’re a current student or a faculty staff member, you should have a blackboard account, when you log in, your login page is going to be similar to mine, a little bit different.
But at the top, you should see a tab for career services, if you click on that tab, you’re going to see a series of three sub tabs, one of them is a job or an internship, so you click there and it takes you to this page, you’ll see tools here for our online career center, a link to our YouTube channel where these videos are going to be posted and a link to be focused self-assessment which you can simply click on.
If you’re not a current student, you can access focus through the external website, you can go to central Penn dot edu, simply type slash and career services, it will bring you to our career services page.
If you scroll down on the right, you’re going to see career services, resources and you’re going to see a link here to the focus self-assessment, when you click on that link from either blackboard or Central Penn dot edu, it’s going to take you to a page that looks like this and the mistake that some people make is that they immediately start trying to type in a username or a password before they have one.
The first thing you have to do is that if you don’t have an account, create one, so you’re going to click on register and you need an access code, the access code for central Penn is neitzke and I ghts, it doesn’t matter if you use a capital K or a small K.
It’s not case-sensitive, then you’re going to put in your personal details, your first name, your last name, the email that you want to use, when you access focus and you’re going to create your own username and password, then you click on status and you’re going to choose from current student prospective student alumni or faculty and staff.
You’re going to read this disclaimer, click the box to indicate your agreement and click on continue and your focus account will be set up now, since I have a focus account, I’m going to click on cancel and go back to the login page.
Now that you have an account in the future each time, you want to use focus, all you have to do is to click here to type in your username and type in your password, then you’re going to log in the videos that follow. I will show you some of the tools you can use after you log in.
