Description: This passage is mainly about moviepass activate card. In this passage, the writer tells us his first impression of the movie pass card as well as how to use the movie pass card by an unboxing.
So tonight’s experiment is to try out the new movie pass service, now if you haven’t heard of movie pass before, the idea of it is supposed to be the Netflix for theatrical movies, you pay for 10 bucks a month, and you can go and see one movie a day in a movie theater, almost any movie theater out there.
There are around 4,000 movie theaters, and you can go to see one movie a day, any regular 2d showing, not a 3d large format super screen or ultra screen that we have around here but a regular movie, you can see one of those a day all months, so you can essentially see 31 movies a month for 10 dollars.
I know it sounds crazy, I’m going to see if it works, what you do is that they send you your own movie pass MasterCard debit card, and on the app you select the movie theater that you’re going to and the movie and the Showtime, and you check in on the app, it loads up the full ticket price of the movie on this MasterCard debit card.
I think they prefer the kiosk in the movie theater, and you buy your ticket at the kiosk with your card, which is similar to that you’re purchasing a regular ticket, and that’s how it works, I don’t know how they make money at this, I think they sell some of your movie going habits data to researchers, and then I think the people that don’t see as many movies subsidize the people who see a bunch of movies.
I don’t know how long this thing is going to be around, I’m not even entirely sure it’s going to work, I’m going tonight to the 9:45 show of Logan lucky here at my Green Bay Park movie theater, and I’m going to attempt to buy a ticket, now supposedly you can go to any regular 2D show, you can go to an evening matinee.
Whatever I’m going on a Tuesday which is the five-dollar-discount day, which the institute for taking away all of our second-run-cheap movie theaters, so if it doesn’t work, it might be related to that, I am not entirely sure, but I’m going to see how well it works.
I’m going to go check in for that showtime, go to the theater, try and buy my ticket with the movie pass to see if it works, and I’ll let you know how well it works and if it doesn’t work after I go to see the movie.
It’s five-dollar-movie night, so first go with movie pass is not a success, but I think I might have done it wrong, and in all fairness to myself, movie pass doesn’t explain the whole process well in my opinion, so I will go to the movie theater and go to check in for the 9:45 Logan lucky Showtime.
When I do that, it asks me to put in the last four digits of the card which I have figured the card when it comes which is already activated and ready to go, because in the app, it shows the card’s last four digits and the expiration date, so I figure it is automatically registered at the account.
So I check in and ask for the last four digits of the card, and I put that in, and it says that your card is activated, so I figure it is all good to go, so I go to purchase my ticket, and it comes up as declined, I have tried it twice, but it still comes up as declined, so I still had some Marcus movie reward credit to use.
So I purchase my ticket and go to sit in the theater and wait for the show to start, and I decide to try checking in again, and I check in again, and I get a totally different screen this time, so what I’m thinking about is that the first time around it is activating the card, and I need to check in a second time.
When I tweet out that it doesn’t work, it says the same thing, when they first check in the first time, you have to do it twice for the first time when you plug in the flat four digits of your card, and then it says it’s activated then check in again, and then you’ll see that the second screen, that says you’re all good to go and to get your tickets.
So I think I’m going to give it one more try, and I think it might work this time, so I’ll check in next time when I go to the movie theater in a couple of days, and we’ll see that if the movie pass works.
So this is the second attempt at buying my ticket with movie pass, I’m here during the day at the Marcus Hollywood cinema in Wisconsin, and I decide to give it another shot to try and buy a movie ticket with a movie pass.
So I go and check in for a Showtime today, and I have got that success screen which says go to buy your tickets, which is same as what I have got the other night when I do for the second time, so I go to try and buy a ticket to the movie for later tonight.
I have got it worked beautifully, so I come and check in on the app, it says that go to buy your tickets, so I go to the kiosk here at the theatre, I go through like a normal movie ticket sale, I can also put it in my Marcus movie rewards card number, and I earn 10 points buying a ticket, because essentially it’s a regular cash sale of a movie ticket.
It’s your movie pass subscription, it is paying for it instead of you putting it on your own debit or credit card, but I am successfully able to buy a ticket with movie pass, so the moral of the story is that you need to check in twice for the first time that you go.
For the first time, it will ask you for your last four digits of your card number, and it’ll say that it’s activated, and that has activated the card itself, that gets it ready to go, and you check in again, and then it says that go to buy your ticket, that’s when it’s loaded up and all ready to go now.
I’ll also credited the customer service for a movie pass when I was sitting in the theater the other night before the movie started, my first time was a failure within about five minutes, and this was around 9:30 at night, they contacted me back and were attempting to help, and I sent them a copy of my ticket which I purchased at the request, and supposedly they refunded my money.
I’m not exactly sure of how that works, I’m still technically on the trial portion of the service, I think you get two weeks free before it starts billing your card, and that supposedly kicks in from the time that you receive your card.
I’m guessing that you first use it, so this is the first successful use of my movie pass card, so now I’ll have two weeks before I’ll get charged for it, but it works, I don’t know how it works, as I said I don’t know how to stay in business.
But if this keeps working, and they stick around for a while, I’ll go to movies all the time, I don’t know why movie theaters are doing this deal, because we have the theaters all the time buy concessions seeing at least a movie a week, whereas I might have gone once every month or a couple of months, so as for movie pass so far, I’m a believer.
