This tutorial will show you how to extend or restrict parental access to your student information, which gives your parent or guardian the ability to view student information online, including transcript and billing information.
You can reach the parental access by scrolling down to the bottom of your student center, clicking on add update parent information to grant a parent or guardian access, clicking add relationship, filling out the following information including their relationship to you, their first and last name, their email address and any other details you want to add. Make sure that you have entered the correct email address, then granting parental access will be sent to the address submitted. When you are done, click Save, you will be redirected to the parental access page where you will be able to find your new relationship.
To give this new relationship access, click the grant parent access button, please read over this informed consent text under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. A student’s educational and financial records are private and confidential and may only be released with consent from the student.
By checking this box, you are granting North Carolina State University’s permission to share educational records that you select with the third parties you have identified, you can revoke access at any time. After you have granted permission, click continue, when you have read through and understand your rights on this page, you will be able to select what information and records you want your parent or guardian to have access to.
Clicking explain, these options will provide a few more details about what information you are sharing, if your parent or guardian is a student or employee of North Carolina State University, you can click this box.
Finally you will need to create a phone inquiry PIN for your parent or guardian, if your parent or guardian ever wants to contact the office of registration records directly regarding your information, they will need this PIN in order to a verified their relationship to you.
Make sure the PIN is random, so it won’t be easily guessed but personal enough to be understood by your parent or guardian, you can use the PIN hint question to give clues or reminders. Once you click Submit, an email will be sent to the address you listed under your parent or guardian which will instruct them on how to accept the granted access to your information.
Your parent or guardian will be able to access the information by logging into the Mypack portal parent ortel with the email address that you have listed under their information, until they have accepted the access, they will be able to log into the parent portal transcript.
