Description: The following article is mainly designed to talk about the walmart synchrony. In this article, the author introduces you the Walmart Pay which works with any iOS or Android device at any checkout lane, and with any major credit, debit, pre-paid or Walmart gift card.
I’d like to introduce Neil Ashe, president and CEO of Walmart global e-commerce and Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of services for Walmart US. Thanks to Netta and good morning everyone. We’re excited to tell you today how we’re continuing to make shopping faster and more convenient for our customers through mobile.
E-commerce brought the store to the web and now mobile is bringing the web to the store. The timing couldn’t be better to share this news given what we saw. Over the holiday weekend, millions of our customers use their smartphones to simplify their shopping experience.
G-Nearly half of our customers bought their online orders on a mobile device. That’s double last year and significantly higher than the industry average. When they were in our stores, they use the Walmart app at twice the rate as last holiday. Customers are using the supercomputer that’s in their pocket to create a personalized shopping experience.
We’re helping them do things they couldn’t do before. From the time they enter the parking lot, they can check in to pick up their online order to navigating them to the location of that toy that they want to get for the kid for Christmas. Now we’re unveiling a powerful addition that extends the app to checkout. It’s called Walmart pay.
It’s fast, easy and a secure way for customers to pay using their smartphones. The beauty of Walmart pay is its simplicity. It works with almost any telephone and almost any payment type. It makes the app even more valuable to our customers and helps us build a deeper relationship with them.
Walmart pay will be introduced in select stores beginning this month with a nationwide launch in the first half of next year. Soon customers can leave home with their keys and a smartphone to shop at their local Walmart. Customers know us for saving the money. Now we’re giving them the gift of the time with that. I’ll turn it over to Daniel who will tell you more about Walmart pay and show you how it works.
Thanks Neil and good morning everyone. I’m excited to be here today to talk to you about Walmart Pay, the newest capability brought to the Walmart app that helps improve our customers store shopping experience. With Walmart pay, our goal is simple to help make customers checkout easier by creating a fast, simple and secure mobile payment solution that almost anyone with a smartphone can access and enjoy.
With this launch, we are the only retailer to offer our own mobile payment capability that works with any iOS or Android device at any checkout Lane and with any major credit, debit, prepaid or Walmart gift card. It’s incredibly simple to use it. Instead of me telling you how easy it is, I will show you.
A couple of days ago we went into a store and filmed a quick video earlier this week to give you an example of how Walmart pay works at our checkouts. Can we roll that? Hi, my name is Kirsty and I’m here to pick up a few items and show you how easy it is to use Walmart Pay. Open it, scan this then you have done it. It’s simple.
With Walmart pay, customers can use multiple payment types and set up specific payment preferences. For example, if you have a couple of Walmart gift cards in your account, you can set up Walmart pay to use all of your Walmart gift card balances first before ever touching a credit or debit card.
You can also use other payment types alongside Walmart pay such as paying for part of your cart in cash and then the remainder with Walmart pay. Now you’re probably all thinking about all the other mobile wallets are out there, why you should choose to come out with Walmart pay.
First, it’s important to note that Walmart pay is not about improving payment for payments sake. It’s about how we can use payment to create a better shopping experience for our customers in our stores. Next, when we looked across, all the solutions that were out there.
Many of them are limited to only certain types of phones or certain device operating systems or only to certain payment types. In some instances, all three of those constraints are placed upon a customer. We needed a solution that offered mobile payment access to as many of our customers as possible. The result was Walmart pay.
As with the Walmart app, Walmart pay has been built in a way that will allow it to change and grow in capability. We’ve even designed it to allow for the integration of other mobile wallets in the future as these capabilities mature in the marketplace.
We believe Walmart pay will make the ease of mobile payments a reality for millions of Americans while improving the checkout experience for our customers. We’re working hard to create a seamless shopping experience at Walmart whether you’re shopping at a Super Center or you’re walking down the the sidewalk or you’re sitting on your couch at home.
We want you to have the best and simplest shopping expiry and shopping experience. We’re excited that Walmart pay closes the loop and delivers that the complete shopping experience in an easy and and simple way for our customers.
