Description: The following passage mainly focuses on infinite campus login, in which the author gives you a brief overview of Infinite Campus. The goal is to give you a little bit of taste of the new student information system. Infinite Campus manages student data through a centralized database that provides real-time information.
I want to welcome everybody from Temecula Valley USD, hopefully your in-service day is going well on this Friday, today we’re going to take a very brief about a 10 to 15 minutes overview of Infinite Campus, the goal is to give you a little bit of taste of the new student information system that the district will be implementing this year planning to go live for next school year.
The first thing I want to cover with everybody is that Temecula Valley USD has selected the largest American provider of k-12 student information systems, we support over 6.3 million students nationwide over 2400 districts, we operate in 43 states and we have six entire statewide implementations today.
In California we support over 500,000 students, in Riverside County some districts near Temecula such as Lake Elsinore, Moreno Valley, perishing high school district, south of Valley Center all use Infinite Campus, some other districts in Riverside County are going to use Infinite Campus soon.
What I want to do is to show the system, the first thing you’re going to realize is that I’ve logged in as an administrator, the first big difference is the fact that Infinite Campus is 100% web-based, what that means is as you can see at the top I’m using a standard browser, any browser works such as Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer.
This means that you will have access to Infinite Campus 24/7 365 days a year regardless of your location, so you can access Infinite Campus via your computer at home if you’re on vacation or if you’re at the school site, they’re working.
Once you log in, you’ll be presented with this page, what I’m going to do is to walk you through the top line, talk about some index search features, pull up my son who is Dylan Ferris and show you all the information you’re going to have access to without leaving the page.
So hopefully you’ll see as we go through that, Infinite Campus is very powerful but it’s also very easy to learn and it’s very simple to use, you can resize the windows within Infinite Campus, I can resize or completely hide this left navigation menu if I want.
But if we look at the all years tab, this is a very big difference between areas, as you know within areas you have to operate within a single year of data, it’s very hard to pull reports from past years of data or to operate in all years at the same time.
At the top, Infinite Campus has an all years tab, if you have permissions, you can have access to multiple years or all years, what that means is that in infinite campus you don’t have to wait for that annual New Year rollover process to do scheduling and to plan for next year.
Infinite Campus is one large database, depending on how many schools you have access to, they’d be listed here along with all the different calendars for a particular school you might have access to, I don’t have it turned on here but next to calendar you would see all the different schedule structures that might be associated with a particular school.
If we look over to the left, it is a very simple navigation, as you expand the different areas on the left, more areas appear, if I click on general one for example, you can see that there’s my son Dylan, all of these tabs are related to him.
You can go over to the search window, you can search for any of these items listed here such as household, accounts, different budgets the school might be on and staff members, Infinite Campus is not only a student information system but it’s a complete district information system.
It has a food service system, an integrated energy system, complete HR finance payroll system more than a student information system, but replacing areas is the first step for Temecula Valley to expand its use of Infinite Campus, one of the things you’ll see if I go through is that let’s pick a student for example.
I can click the letter F here and click go, you’re going to see all the students that are at this school whose last name begins with the letter F, but you need more than simple search options, what we provide is what we call an advanced search.
This allows the users to search any in the field over to the left including special ed fields, you’re going to create your own searches and save them, for example I have a search here for the basketball team, I can click on the basketball team, click search, immediately over to the left are all the students that make up that basketball team.
Then I can easily click on their records and go through one by one to look at them, I’m going to go back to my son Dylan for an example, I’m going to say Ferris, that’s my last name, if I go here, you’re going to see Dylan, I’m going to hide this left navigation window.
All I’m going to do here is to show you all the different information you have access to on Dylan, without changing screens or going to a different repository, on the opening page you’re going to have a nice summary of Dylan’s information.
You’re going to see any other siblings like his brother Cody, even though they’re in a different school, you still have real-time access, because Infinite Campus is a true district-wide information system, it’s not a school based system, so you can see my information, my wife’s information and our household information.
Anywhere throughout Infinite Campus if you want to get that information out in a simple report, at the top of all the screens you see these little print icons, if I print that, it’ll launch a report, they’ll take the information on that page and put it into a nice report format for you.
It is very easy to get information out of Infinite Campus, if we click on the enrollments tab, we have a view of Dylan’s entire enrollment history for the entire time when he’s been at Temecula Valley, we can easily go back and look at past years.
We can click on the current enrollment record to go in and to get more data, one of the things you’ll notice as we go through is that these pop-ups appear, Infinite Campus has audit trails throughout the system which lets you know who is the last user to change a record, what they changed and when they changed it.
We can look at Dylan’s schedule, you can look at the schedule in multiple different formats, you can look at it by all terms, if you want to see Quarter 1, perhaps you want to see Dylan’s schedule by course, you can do that as well, there are a lot of different options.
You have the option on how you want to print the report card, if I want to print it, you push that print icon, it prints Dylan’s schedule for me, I like to view the schedule, sometimes I open the walk-in schedule, then you can see all the course requests to the right, you can also see Dylan’s active schedule.
Infinite Campus has very robust scheduling and walk-in scheduling capabilities within it, we don’t have enough time to go through them all but you will definitely be trained on them and the entire system as campuses implemented there at Temecula Valley.
If we continue going across, we can see Dylan’s entire attendance record, what you notice is that they also have audit trails here, in infinite campus we maintain the entire attendance history of our students, what that allows us to do is to be certified by the state of California for electronic signature.
What that means is that the teachers no longer have to sign off on those weekly attendance summary reports anymore, because now the state of California recognizes Infinite Campus as the sole record, that process entirely goes away with Infinite Campus.
You can see the students’ grades, entire history of the students grades, what’s a big differentiator is that Infinite Campus is truly one system, if you’re using Pinnacle gradebook, those grades have to be exported somehow out of Pinnacle into areas for the report card.
What you see here in Infinite Campus is as you go through, not only can you see that the grade marking report for the student for maybe progress reports or report cards, but as an admin user you can click on the teachers’ grade book and go directly into the teachers’ gradebook in real time, you can see down to the excitement level and down to the standard level as well to see exactly what’s going on with that student in the class.
That can be done because it’s all one system, if we keep moving along, you can see the transcript page, you can choose the different formats as well, for example don’t get too caught up on what a transcript may look like because of the simple fact that a transcript in Infinite Campus can look like anything that you wanted.
These are options I selected to be on this transcript, each school and the entire district can have an unlimited number of different transcripts they want to track, we have the credit summary screen, we also have the assessment screen.
The assessment screen will capture every assessment whether a state, national, benchmark district or teacher assessment that the student has ever taken, it crossed the schools and crossed the school years, so as you can see I’m looking into the case, I can drill down into the actual results.
The other thing which I won’t have time to show you today is that Infinite Campus contains a complete data analysis tools within it as well, so you can make graph, pie charts, bar charts, line charts, test results, behavior results, attendance results and any of the data within the system.
If we continue, here’s the behavior tab, you’ll notice that Dylan’s entire behavior history is recorded on this one page, it crosses years and it crosses schools, we call it behavior in Infinite Campus not discipline, because we track both positive and negative events for our students.
We go across here, you can see that the transportation information is within Infinite Campus, you can also see all the fees that have been associated to Dylan, you see a lot of fees that say in office or course fees, but you also see where it says payment online, that’s because Infinite Campus has a fully integrated online payment system.
When parents log into Infinite Campus, it’s the same system that you’re logging into every day, part of that is the ability to pay by credit card or by cheque for food service and for fees, so this is a very high-level quick overview of the basic student demographic page.
But what I want to show you is if we open this up, there are different areas here, for example if I click on health, here is Dylan’s entire health record, I can go through and see Dylan’s conditions all tied to icd-9 codes, you need to drill down across the schools, in fact the entire health history all of Dylan’s records follow him regardless of what school he’s at or what year it is currently or how long he’s been with district.
You can see Dylan’s entire immunization records showing very easily in color coded compliant and not compliant, all of Dylan’s screenings are captured within Infinite Campus, Infinite Campus also contains a full medication tracking and scheduling system.
We don’t have time to go into the actual Health section over here, but you know that nurses would have out access to what we call a health office visit calendar where they can set up appointments and manage their day-to-day operations as a nurse.
Infinite Campus also has a full special IEP system built into it, we also have what we call personalized learning plans, this is the ability to create any kind of learning plan for a student, for example Dylan has a response, an RTI plan, an individualized learning plan and an emergency plan.
But these easily could be anything that the district wants to create such an eol plan, a behavior modification plan, nothing has to be done to update these plans, they are all updated in real-time throughout the district as standards mastery changes, as grades change, as courses sections change, all that reflects on the personalized learning plan.
If we open one of these to give you a view of it, these are some of the different areas that I’ve included in Dylan’s plan, goals and objectives for Dylan to use in his learning plan, to give you a sample view of one of these learning plans, you will see all fictitious data here.
This is Dylan’s personalized learning plan that I print off, there is a lot of powerful stuff here, Infinite Campus also has a complete document management capability which we won’t be able to show today, but hopefully this was a good overview for you, you will have tons of training.
The district is provided for a very robust training plan that will be taking place in the spring, you will get more information to come, this gives you a little bit of a preview of the new student information system, over time hopefully Temecula Valley will have more and more things such as finance human resources and other features.
