Description: This article is about microsoft login, which will show you how to create both a local and a Microsoft account on Windows 10. You will also learn how to create a local admin account without having to sign in with a Microsoft email.
I’m going to show you how to add and remove different accounts onto your computer. Let’s start by doing a right click over the Start menu or the start button on the bottom left. Once you do a right click, you’re going to get a different start menu to come up but then the normal one if you do a left click.
What we want to choose is Run, once you have the run window up, type netplwiz, enter ok and we’re going to get this user accounts window, I’ll show you how to add a local account and also how to add a Microsoft account.
If you have a local administrator account, you’re still going to have full access to your computer, you’re going to have access to all the software, the biggest difference between the two is if you add your Microsoft account, what you’re doing is you’re adding your Microsoft email account and you’re logging in with that email account onto your computer, it gives you access to all the apps and you’ll be able to access different things too through the Microsoft Store.
I have logged in to an administrator account but it’s a local administrator account, if we go to the Start menu, do a left click and go to settings, once we’re in the settings window, click on accounts, left click, let’s choose the family and other users.
As you can see I have two different accounts for both local accounts and they’re both admins, you can change the account type on an account, you can click on change account type and choose a standard user or an administrator.
A standard user will give usually that profile most accessed or everything, it doesn’t allow you to change other settings for other profiles on the computer itself, we’re going to start by adding a local account first.
I would recommend to have both on your computer to have a local administrator account and also a Microsoft email account in case you happen to get locked out of your Microsoft account or there’s issues with it or for some reason it gets completely locked where you have to call and authenticate yourself.
That has happened in different people, so I would recommend to have again that local administrator account that doesn’t require your email to sign in and also the Microsoft account if you want to do that to take advantages of that Microsoft store.
To do that we have two different options, we can do it through add someone else to this PC or we can you choose this option, let’s click on add, in order to sign or create a local account, what you want to choose is the option where it says sign in without a Microsoft account.
You need to choose the option where it says local account, you can create a new one, you need to fill the user name where I will put in test 3, password, reenter password and password hint, if you want to create a password for security purpose I would recommend to always have a password depends on how you use your computer but it’s completely up to you.
Hit next, it’s going to be the local councilors, click finish, if we go back over to the test 3, you can see us as users, it’s not part of the administrators group, so in order to change it, we could click on properties, go to group membership and choose the administrator option, that radio button.
Hit apply, hit OK, that’s going to make that account part of the administrator, I would recommend to at least have one local administrator account in case even if you want to choose the Microsoft account option.
To add a Microsoft account we’ll click on add, let’s try that again, we’re going to add a Microsoft email account, type in the email account, hit next and click finish, again it’s part of the users, it’s going to populate the new concept we made.
Refresh it, go into accounts again, we have all the accounts that we made, we have the test3 and that we have the new email account, let’s change the account type, once we do a left click over the account that we made, change account type, change it to administrator, hit OK and they’re all administrator accounts now.
You can use this setting or you can choose the other setting, they both do essentially the same thing, we have all the accounts, email account is an administrator account, we have a local administrator account that’s administrator and we have a Microsoft email account that’s administrator.
Keep in mind when you create and sign in with your Microsoft email account, you’re always going to have to type in your password every time you do a restart, a sign out, you’ll have to type in your password.
There is a way that if you choose to have your Microsoft account sign in all the time, you can go to highlight the email account, go to properties, uncheck the box where it says users must enter a password and a username and password to use this computer.
Once you hit apply, it’s going to come up with a window, this is going to allow us to sign in with our Microsoft email account onto our computer, but it’s going to bypass us having to type in the password every single time.
What we can do is to type in your email password associated with that account we added, hit OK, in order for that to take effect, you’re going to have to do a research on the computer, once you do a full system restart, you can do the restart or you can do a right-click to go to the shutdown and sign out, if you want to sign out, it’s not going to take effect.
What you want to do is a full system restart, so once you do that restart, the next time your computer boots up it’s automatically going to log you into that Microsoft account without having to type in your password every single time.
If you want to sign in to your local administrator account, you can simply hit sign out, once you do that, it’s going to give you all the options on all the accounts that you have and you can choose whichever account you want to sign into.
It’s definitely a good thing to have both, they have the local administrator account, that’s not tied in with any email, then they also have your Microsoft email account, you can take advantages of all the Windows 10 features or you can synchronize everything associated with that Microsoft email account and you’ll have access again to the Microsoft Store.
I’m on a local administrator account, if I go to the store, navigate down to the store, if I want to download an app, I can click on it, it’s going to want me to automatically sign in to an account, but if I’m already signed in to my Microsoft account, it’s going to automatically download that app onto your computer.
Since I’m on a local administrator, I have to either enter an email or sign out and log in through the Microsoft account, I would recommend to have both in case you never know what’s going to happen to your email account or one day you may not sign in.
Having both definitely does not hurt, if you don’t want to sign in with your password every single time you boot up, if you have multiple people in your house and multiple people are using the same computer, if you don’t want anybody accessing your content, if you are worried that anybody gets to your computer, you can have your computer save that password, that way you don’t have to keep typing in the password every time that you want to sign in or use your computer.
