Office 365 is a package of different programs and services that Microsoft has put together,they are putting the vast majority of their resources for the future into developing office 365.
You’re going to end up getting into office 365,you can look at the benefits. I am going to take you through the benefits and the different parts of it. Today we’re focusing on the programs and the services that are included in office 365.
The most obvious one is Microsoft Exchange,you have your emails,your calendars,your contacts and your tasks. If you have an exchange server on-site or hosted somewhere else,it moves to Microsoft. You will be cloud hosted in Microsoft’s data centers that are spread around the world.
If you have your email with an ISP or a Gmail and you want to move them to office 365,you can use exchange,it is a different platform. Everybody uses Word Excel PowerPoint,the licensing for all this software is included with office 365,you have the choice. You can run it on your computer or you can look at web-based versions and collaboration opportunities.
The next thing it includes is SharePoint. Microsoft SharePoint is Microsoft’s fast-growing collaboration document management software,it is hosted in the Microsoft cloud,I’ll be getting into this a little bit later in subsequent tech tips,there are huge opportunities for businesses.
If you have kids,they probably use a little bit of instant messaging in addition to text messaging,this is the business version of instant messaging,it’s your Facebook chat except it is used for businesses. It incorporates online meetings and video conference calls,we use it in our office.
Microsoft recently bought Skype,they’re integrating Skype into this service,it’s a powerful business tool. You have to host your website. Microsoft has different services that they’ve put together,they’re offering them for businesses with 10 to 250 employees,they’re offering them for a little bit over $15 per user per month.
