This is JubiLisa, today I’m giving you an update of where I currently am and my student loan payoff journey, here’s my native student loan account summary, the amount remaining or the only loan I have left to pay off is one thousand nine hundred and ninety dollars and eighty six.
I paid off two thousand dollars worth of student loan debt in the month of March, I have one thousand nine hundred and ninety dollars left, I have a great explanation for why haven’t I paid that off.
The Total Money Makeover step one is saving a thousand dollars for emergency, step two is paying off your debts from smallest to largest, step three is saving three to six months worth of living expenses in order to make the bridge take step from baby step two to step three more feasible.
I decided to start putting money towards that three to six months worth of living expenses so that way I’m more comfortable with leaving step two knowing that I don’t have a thousand dollars worth of savings in my checking account at that time.
This is important because it adds to the financial stability, I’m walking towards in the direction of financial freedom, there are others who may talk about this as well, not everyone follows the Dave Ramsey baby steps for a number of reasons.
I felt that it was necessary for me to deviate from the plan in some way in this regard to add some more stability to my life, since getting that first paid in full email which was for the first time, I’ve paid off ten more.
I used to get them more frequently because the last few loans that I paid off have been such a high amount. I haven’t gotten them as frequently as I used to get them. I used to get them every month, nonetheless I’m very pleased with the progress.
I’ve made given such a short amount of time. I’m so thankful that I was able to make some significant changes in my life to make this happen, you never know how much time you’ll have to do the things that you want to do, anything could happen.
I’m so appreciative that I decided not to take this time for granted, I decided to get to work and I only have 1990 left, financial freedom is going to be a reality for me, I’m looking forward to it, I don’t own a home, I’m considering buying a home.
But it’s not a big priority, I’m looking forward to what the future has for me in the things that I want to do, I’m looking forward to having you all along for the journey with me, if you’re interested, please leave your comments below. Thank you for reading.
