We will use the new PowerSchool interface to create your account and link your children, set up automatic emails, read your child’s grades and contact teachers.
The new system helps parents by providing the opportunity to create one username and password with which you can access the grades of all the children in the family.
You will find a link to power school under Quick Links on the home page of the SFG website, bookmarking the power school site.
You may change the language on the homepage and the subsequent pages will appear in that language. The first time you use the new system, you will need to create a username and password. Click on the create account tab, and Then click on the create account button. Enter your first and last names. Enter the email address you would like to associate with this account.
This is the address that will receive automated grade emails, which will be used if you need to reset your password. Choose a username and password you will remember.
When you have finished filling in the parents account information, you can add your children to the account. You will need your confidential ID and password. If you do not have the information at this time, you can still create your account. Just scroll down and click on the enter button.
If you do have the information, enter your child’s name in the student name field, and enter the confidential ID in the Access ID, then enter the password in the access password field. Choose your relationship with the student using the drop-down menu. You may enter the information for all of your children at this time.
I will also demonstrate how to add students from within the system. When you have entered all the information necessary, scroll down and click on the Enter button at the page. After the page reloads, you will be prompted to login to your newly created account, and enter the username and password that you just created.
If you entered student specific codes during the account creation process, you will see your children’s accounts right away. If you did not enter student specific codes, we need first learn how to add students.
Scroll down and click on the account preferences option on the left side of the screen to open the profile page. It is where you can update your email account or change your password if necessary.
On the students tab, you can add children to your account. Click on the Add button. Add your students’ name. Type in your confidential ID in the Access ID field，and type in your password in the access password field.
Choose your relationship with the student using the drop-down list. Click the Submit if you need to add more students. Click on add again and repeat these steps if you have multiple children.
At a SFG, you will be able to switch between the reports by clicking on their names in the bar. At the top of the page, if you want PowerSchool to automatically email your children’s grades, it is very easy to set up.
Click on an email notification in the menu at the left side of the screen. Choose which information you would like to receive, and I suggest the summary of current grades and attendance. If you would like more detailed information, feel free to use the detailed reports. The school announcements and balance alert options are not available at this time.
Next, choose how often you would like to receive the report in your email by clicking on the drop down list. It confirms your email and provides the opportunity for additional recipients. You may enter as many email addresses as you want but you must separate them with comments.
If you would like to receive the same email for all of your children, you may click on apply these settings to all your students’ boxes. You can also check the box next to send.
If you would like the emails to begin immediately, be sure to click Submit to save your changes. If you no longer wish to receive emails, you merely need to return to the email notification panel and change how often to never. Be sure to click on submit to save your changes.
The grades and attendance page of PowerSchool provides an overview of how your child is performing in all of his or her classes. The current bimester or quarter grades are the only ones that can be affected or changed by improving work or retaking tests grades, and cannot be changed by master by master’s reporters that have ended by master’s reporters that have ended. Click on a number in the current bimester or corner to see more details about that grade.
You will find more details about this on the class score detail page. Anything in blue on this page is clickable and will provide more information. Students and parents should use all of the resources and information available in PowerSchool before contacting teachers.
If there is a grade that does not make sense or an issue that you would like to speak with the teacher about. You can easily email teachers by clicking on their name in the grades and attendance page.
If you have an email program install, it will automatically open with the teacher’s address in the field. If you do not have a program installed, you can right-click on the name and select copy email address from the list. After that, you can paste it into an email using any email provider.
