Description: The article is about penn foster login. The author shares her own experience with Penn Foster high school. Her son was graduated from the Penn Foster high school and she feels great about using Penn Foster for her son’s education.
Today is going to be our experience with Penn Foster high school. We’ve homeschooled first,I think this is our sixth year, there’s my graduate. We have picture window,we call it the fireplace room,I’m outside because it’s nice. It’s supposed to be about 80 today we want to be outside as much as possible before it gets to be about a hundred degrees.
We’ve homeschooled for six years, before high school we’re eclectic home schoolers meaning we don’t use a boxed curriculum,I tend to pull textbooks and curriculum from different publishers depending on what our needs for our particular children. But for high school,I want to ease the burden on myself a little bit. I have my son use a program that was accredited that he would get an actual diploma from, that was our personal preference.
We could have that with our eclectic style and done it on our own. We can have him graduate or take his GED,I have nothing against it,I have a GED,my husband has a diploma and I’ve never been asked for it at a job interview.
They only ask if I am a high school graduate or equivalent. That’s the way we chose to do it. We have two kids at two completely different levels,so that’s what we chose to do,we chose to go with Penn Foster which is an online distance learning school. They also have a high school portion, they have a high school department so we went with Penn Foster.
The reason we went with Penn Foster is that they were double credited which means they are nationally accredited and also regionally, the diploma from there would have the same accreditation. We also chose them because they’re a hybrid program and they send you books, you can do the work in the books and then you can take the tests online, you will get your results instantly.
Another school that we had considered was American school, but everything was done through books,it seems very old-fashioned to us,we’d rather use faster technology and be able to take his tests immediately.
If there was an issue or if he got a low score on the test,he would know immediately, then he maybe need to stop slow down and review those particular area because he will know that he is not getting something. But if you’re mailing things back,it would be difficult to know that. You don’t want to wait a week to get your results, you want to be able to keep moving so that’s why we went with Penn Foster.
We’ve had a couple of friends who’ve used Penn Foster and they had a good experience with them,so we chose that,we didn’t have any problems,we liked it. Jamin seems to like it and he likes that,he could go at his own pace,he could do it on his own.
It was the most rigorous curriculum that’s out there, but honestly that’s not what we were looking for,we were looking for something that was a decent basic high school education that he would get accredited. That’s what we did,it took him about three years, maybe less than three years,he’s 16 now,he’s a blogger, you should check out his channel,he does funny blogs. He likes Gangnam style,he’s such a boy.
It took him less than three years,he’s 16,he has done with high school, that’s exciting. I think the program cost us about $1400,but that’s for all of high school, that is a great value, that is great. We paid a down payment and then I paid $50 a month until it was paid off,we never had any problems with that.
They have people help you,you can call if you need help, but we never used any of those services,I don’t have any experience with those aspects of the program, but we are happy with it,I think we may use it again with my other son. Brendan will start high school for another two years,I think we’ll probably use them too,it is painless for me.
It is important to be a homeschooling mom,it’s difficult too,so if I can find ways to make it a little easier on myself without having to grade papers, then for sure that’s what I’m going to do. Penn Foster worked great for us,we didn’t have too many times stuck on stuff that he couldn’t figure it out.
Internet is where all information is,it was not difficult to do extra research on things that he didn’t know about. He could do search on math or history,he can find a lot of tutorials step-by-step to show you how to do certain problems or certain aspects of math. There are a lot of ways to learn without having a physical teacher with you at all times, that is our experience with Penn Foster,I like it and my son like it,I’m sure we’ll do it again.
