Today I will be walking you through how to create a new order in point click care. To begin, you need to go to the home page, you need to find clinical and residents, this will provide a list of residents for your facility. You will select the resident that you are prescribing the order for, for the purposes of this training, all of these are fictitious, we will use Adam Arkin for an example.
This is the dashboard for this resident, we will navigate to orders, we will navigate to new. Upon clicking that, it will open a new window, it looks like this, at this point, you will simply fill out the on-screen instructions. The order date is auto populated for now, the order category will be pharmacy, the communication method is verbal from Adam Roark.
You need to type in the medication name and it will autocomplete with these suggestions, it is important to select the actual strength you want. If you simply select the dosage form, it will not correctly work later. For this example, we will select five milligrams, the route of administration will be by mouth.
We would click routine and fill in the rest of the information. All of these are examples for Lisinopril, it is important for this to be customized depending on the drug and resident that are being prescribed.
At this point, you would fill in the related diagnosis or indications for use boxes. But it is better to simply fill in the additional directions box, in that way the information properly carries over to pharmacy. After that, you would set the start date and end date, that would complete your scheduling details portion, this is similar for PRN, you would simply click this box instead and fill it out.
You would go down to source details, this is where the drugs come from, you will select pharmacy and you will check inventory on hand if some drug is currently available. If that box is checked, that tells the pharmacy that the medication needs to be ordered but can be held until a later date.
We will describe it in detail in another tutorial. If the family is supplying the medication, you can select family supplied. If it is being supplied through your facility, you can select how stock. At this point, you can navigate down to save and your order will be set once signed.
You can go up here and confirm that your order looks appropriate by looking at the order summary. Thank you for going through this quick training with me. This is to ensure that we have accurate ordering, we also want to ensure that we are better serving people.
