Description: The article is about schoology login. The passage is about how to create assignments in Schoology. The author show how to create assignments in Schoology as a teacher that students may find those new assignments in their part and finish those assignments.
This is my grade 7 Tech course, you can see under materials I have a bunch of stuff. The first thing we’re going to look at is assignments. I’m going to go in and show you one of my completed assignments,I’ll go to the first assignment that I made to give you an idea of what it looks like.
You can see that I put a big description,I attached a file and I attached a bunch of photos which are little picture files that explain how to do something. I wrote onto the comment section, students should try and use this section to ask other questions. They didn’t ask any other questions but they put some stuff in here, this is where I hope they can try and help each other and clarify what they’re supposed to do.
On the right here,I can see who has submitted the assignments on time and who is late,I can also see the mark they got on this assignment,I can even change this to see the who is on time and who is late and those who did not submit it. That’s what this assignment looks like,I’m going to go back to assignments and here is another one,you can get a feeling for what they look like.
I can describe what I want them to do,I have attached a file that they can use it as a starting point,I attached a link to a YouTube video that they can click and watch. It’s opening up in another tab and they can watch this video to get an idea of what they can do and then I ask them to use the comments section in this particular assignment to discuss ways in which they can complete the assignment.
There are different ideas, the reason I want them do that is that they can brainstorm an idea for their assignment and then pick and choose what they want to do to complete the assignment, all of them will have a lot of different ideas to choose from. I can see who’s on time on the right-hand side. I am going to go back to mints and what I’m going to do is that I’m going to go all the way back to materials,I’ll click here.
I’m going to add a new assignment so I can show you how to create one. I an going to add assignment and I will give it a name,I am going to call this new assignment and I can give it a description and I can enable the Dropbox. That means it let students hand in their work through Schoology,if you were doing something on paper or something in the physical world that is impossible to hand in digitally then you don’t need to use the Dropbox.
But for me in tech everything I do is digital ,I’m going to enable that, here’s a maximum number of points,I usually leave this as a hundred,it makes it easier to understand as a percent. I will give it a due date if you want to,I can give it a category,I only have a few categories set up,we’ll talk about how to set up these categories a little bit later.
This is a small assignment and I can even change my grading options,I can stop what term is in here,I can choose is it numeric or do I want to give them a grade,do I want to give them my P levels,I can do that too. The last thing is a factor, this is a weighting,we’ve all discussed in our departments on what we should weight things, what was the type of assignment. Now the number is a five I can do that for ten, that means it’s going to be worth that much more in the gradebook.
There are also some advanced options here where we can have it show grade statistics,we can enable comments or turn them off. I always leave them on because I think it’s a place for students to have a discussion about or to ask questions about the assignment and to answer it for each other. I can turn off this publish to students,I can turn it off and turn it on when I’m ready for them to do it.
Assume I’m ready for them to do it and I am going to do the create, then you can see there’s a new thing here on the right hand side, you can see there’s a new assignment that has been created. The students will see that too. When they come in,they can see that they have a new assignment and it’s due at 11:59 p.m. tomorrow on June 13th and they can click it.
They’ll see that they have a new assignment, hopefully it’s usually more descriptive than this, one thing I didn’t show you is how to edit. I’ve added something here,I’m not happy,I want to change something,I can go into the assignment which is called new assignment.
I can click here and do edit, for example I meant to attach a file,I am going to go ahead and find that file on my computer,in this case it’s an excel file and I will attach it. I might also put a link to something here, for example I’m browsing the website and I have found a great link,I am going to use downloads link here and I can copy the URL at the top and back here to Schoology,I can paste the link and say read this before completing attach.
I’ve got a link attached,I have an Excel spreadsheet attached, maybe in this particular assignment I want them to download the Excel spreadsheet and modify some stuff before uploading back to submit the assignment,I’m going to click save. You can see that my Dropbox is completely empty on the side,no one has had anything in it,but I’m going to go in as a student here so you can see what this assignment looks like.
This is the course for a student, here and you can see what this looks like. I’ve got a new assignment for them, they can click in to do it,they can download the excel file, they can ask any questions, they can submit it to the Dropbox. There’s usually a button here,I’m not logged in as this person so I can’t do it,but they can click a button and upload their files to submit.
Once you give it a mark, the mark will show up to the student so they can see it there. If they ever forget what they received on an assignment, they can always go back to Schoology and find their mark. It’s very cool, that is how you create an assignment. Now you can create graded discussions, but you don’t need to create them as a separate assignment,I’ll show you how to do that next
