Description: The following passage mainly focuses on skyward login, which gives you a nice overview of the teacher access part of skyward including my gradebook, my students and my classes. These are the three primary things that you’ll need to know about the most.
The purpose of this article is to give you a nice overview of the teacher access part of skyward, this is different from the family access, to get here you’d have to login using that special link and ID and password that we’re going to send you.
Once you log in, you’re going to see this screen, you need to click on teacher access, all sorts of fun stuff comes up, I want to focus on my gradebook, my students and my classes because those are the three primary things that you’ll need to know about the most.
If you click on my gradebook, you’ll see that your list of classes comes up, next to it is a link called secondary gradebook, you can click on any of them, I’m going to pick on psychology, from the gradebook it’s bare-bones now, but what you’ll see eventually is that I have one fake assignment.
All the assignments are going to be across the board, in this nice you’ll see all your assignments eventually that you’re going to include here, what can you do from this screen is that you can click on a student’s name and see fun stuff about them.
All their assignments would be listed, you can see their missing assignments, report card grades, comments and content grades, you can click on a student or if you notice there is a wealth of stuff to do across the top, you’ve got all sorts of dropdowns, you’ve got other access, you can see their food service, test scores and busing.
As long as information is inputted into those services, you can see your class’s assignments which I’m going to show you on how to add your assignments to your gradebook, you can add assignments lists, you can take attendance from here.
Category is when you set up an assignment, you can put categories, you can put your unit names or chapter numbers or something like that, so you can look at different categories of assignments, you’ve got different posting options, lots of different report options that you can choose from during the year when you’ve got some grades in there.
Because everyone loves a good chart, you can look at charts of student progress category averages, that might be where you input categories which might be very useful, you can see category averages per unit, per chapter, in display options you can mess with things displayed on your screen.
You’ve got a quick scoring option and exporting, that’s an overview of what you can do in the gradebook, if you go back to the gradebook screen, if you click on teacher access, you’ll go my students, click on my students, this list is about all of your students from all of your classes.
You can search and get some detailed information on those students, I click on a student and I double click on them, I can get tons of information on them, who their advisor is, other information, phone number, student ID, if you look, tons of information is available.
I can go back and that will take me back to the list of students, my students will give you access to all of your students, down here you can search last name, type in a last name, it will bring up that particular student, you can also take a look at my classes.
This brings up your classes if you click the class options, you had different options, attendance, discipline, message center, you can do all fun things from this screen, set up your classroom options, that’s a brief overview of the teacher access screen.
There are the three things you’ll be accessing the most during the year, this is to get you oriented to this new skyward system, my gradebook, my students and my classes are the three things you’ll probably need the most at the beginning of the year and throughout the school year.
