Description: This is an article mainly about social security login, in which the author shows you how to request your Social Security Statement online. The other option you have is going into the office there, filling out the necessary form and doing it that way.
My name is Jeff Rose from goodfinancialcents.com, yesterday I had a chance to attend a social security benefit seminar, part of the seminar is geared towards Social Security benefits trying to help our client’s society or showing them the right time to take their benefits.
They should wait at a later date to take them and also address that when the spouse should potentially draw that Social Security benefit as well, but one of the takeaways I got from the seminar was regarding your Social Security Statement which they refer to as the statement.
For those of you, it’s like how often you receive your statement, more importantly, what I want to talk about today is what happens if you want to request a new statement, this is one of the little Flyers that they gave us, we’re showing you how you can request your Social Security Statement online.
As Patty Duke here claims, it is easy, you can do in less than 10 minutes, I want to put that to the test, but to show you how you would request a social security statement if you want to get a new updated one, first and foremost you don’t have to go online to do it.
You can call your local Social Security office to do so, there is one thing I will say that the Social Security individual employee who gave the seminar told us yesterday, their office lines are terribly busy, they are constantly either processing claims, doing Nupur work or taking phone calls.
It is an HP admitted, it is incredibly difficult to get through to the office, most times you call, you’ll get a busy signal, I’m not sure if that applies to all Social Security offices, but if you’re having trouble trying to request it via the phone, that is potentially the reason.
The other option you have is going into the office and filling out the necessary form, but they said they’re always busy, you might be waiting in a long line, if you have access to a computer and you feel comfortable going online doing it, then that’s how I want to show you today.
Let’s take a look at where you’d go to get your Social Security Statement online, first step is to go to the Social Security Administration website, the web address is www.ssa.gov, type that into your web browser, hit enter, this will come up.
It’s a breeze, you’ll see in the left-hand sidebar, look for request a Social Security Statement ,all you need to do is to click that button, they will give you some information about what a statement is and why automatic statements need to request statement.
You’ll need to click on to need to request a statement, that will prompt you to this page, before you go through the process, you’re going to get this information handy if you don’t have it already, you get your full legal name on your Social Security card.
You’ll want to know your social security number, it’s also important, you will also know your date of birth, your place of birth and your mother’s maiden name, these are key pieces of information that are essential to requesting your Social Security Statement online.
The other thing that they’ll also suggest you have is a record of your earnings history, that will be optional, but if you have your record for the last two years, it makes it much more helpful for them to retrieve your statements, let’s scroll down.
Once you get to this page, the other thing you’ll want to know is that even though it is online, you would think that would be open 24/7, there are only certain times that you can do it, that’s up top here Monday through Friday is all day except from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. for some laborers who may be requesting the Social Security Statement online at two o’clock in the morning.
We know more power to you, but you’ll grab the wait until 3:00 a.m., Saturday is 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday is 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and that holiday is 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., you can see all those times here as well, let’s go down to see more information.
The other option which I didn’t mention yet is if you want to do it by mail, you will request this form here, this is the Social Security Statement request form SSA7004, I’m going to pull it up, this is a PDF, I take a minute for it to download.
It is the social security statement if you want to do it via the mail, I want to say it’s going to take you about four to six weeks to get it back by doing it this method, but this is the form that you need to do if you wanted to do it through snail mail.
Let’s go back to the online version, if you want to do the online version, scroll down here, you can see that there’s a little button, you need to click the request a Social Security Statement button, it’s at the bottom of that, that will get you to this page.
Here is where you start entering all the information in, it is the basic information like what language you speak, social security number or first name, middle initial, last name, your date of birth, place of birth, gender, mother’s maiden name, telephone number and address, this is where you start seeing some of the optional information.
You have a different name, mailing address, city state, if you have a national security number that you have used and all basic information, here’s the earnings portion I was mentioning, last year’s earnings, this year’s earnings, you have that information, it’s helpful and required to get your statement.
As I mentioned, any more information you can give them is much more helpful, all you do is to fill this in, then you’ll click on continue, that will bring you up to a confirmation page to where you confirm all the information and submit.
That’s how simple it is to request your Social Security Statement online, I want to say as well that even online it’s going to take almost the same time via the snail mail by doing that form 7004, other ways can take you about a month to get it, but it’s easy, there is no cost, this is free.
If you need to get that information, if you’re trying to figure out what your benefit is or if you’re trying to do retirement planning and you don’t have the most current statement handy, this is the surefire way to do it, I hope that this article is helpful, if you get any more questions regarding social security or anything financial planning related, head over to the blog goodfinancialcents.com, I’ve got tons of information over there to help you out.
