Description: The article is about spectrum login. The author introduces some newest boxes and modems for us. He shows us the differences between those products and their unique features. Different products have different features and we can choose your favourite.
What I’m bringing you today is the Time Warner Cable/Charter/spectrum. They have been through changes over the last year. The AT&T has acquired the entire eight Internet infrastructure from them as well. You can merge with AT&T too. If you’ve had u-verse before, you will know what the modem looks like, you will know what the darn remotes look like, now it’s spectrum’s turn.
I will give a little justice to it. We’ll go from the smallest, coolest, newest box to the oldest box. You can do this once before you got Bilby digital plus an HDMI 2.0 compliant Eros cable box from spectrum time Warner. I started service when it was time that Warner changed over to charter and then converted to spectrum.
There have been unique changes, however, you would have been lucky enough to get this box from Time Warner at the time. I mounted it up on the wall,it was very concealed very small with the white LED time being displayed here.
This was my favorite cable box from them. It is a playback box. It has your coax and you have a component in,you have a composite in left and right input for your stereo connection, you have a Toslink digital gun optical port for audio in.
You also have a digital coax port which is amazing,it is very rare for cable boxes to have both optical and coaxial, you have HDMI 2.0. We’ve got an Ethernet and we got USB here. Now we’ve got an external infrared in for serial, so that’s going to be your trigger. Then we’ve got an IEE 1394 for service. That is removable power supply and it is nice. That’s the eros box,it is their newest one on a table /Charter/spectrum.
Let’s move on the list Cisco. It is their newest Cisco box. All my boxes have been maintained previously. But I acquired this box with them last six months. Let’s have a look at the back of the box, they have a little tape period,I want to take that off, then you won’t be able to get serviced at all.
To be quite honest with you before I get into the looking at this box, this is a Cisco VBR box,it will not do DVR hard discs on it,you’ve got to have the actual DVR whole house enhanced VDR box from them. It’s a DVR box, but it won’t record on its own, there is no spinning hard drive on it.
Let’s take a look at this one before I get into this,I want to remind you that everybody should be aware of this. You should be aware that what channels and services you can connect to your television or your cable box is determined in your cable box.
The cable company sends the same feed out from every location that they have in the United States, but some of the exact same signals out to your house, everybody’s house gets the same signal. However inside your house and your cable box either at the splitter report or at the DC adapter that they plug into your wall, that’s useless as these all have DC converters in there. They have every underwriters laboratory device for the last four years. So that’s a waste of time and money that they do for you.
Our cable/spectrums /Charter is going to install a DC adapter in there in your basement, but that’s going to limit the channels that you get. Whether you got HBO Cinemax Showtime stars on-demand,that’s going to determine your cable box,you don’t have a cable box,it’s going to be determined by the cable coming into your wall. It gets to your TV,you’re going to have to have a cable card.
The only reason why they do that is to make sure you don’t get the service that you’re not paying for. Mines are there. I got the other Cisco box. Here is another playback box, but a little bit much different box than that one. Here it’s a little bit different,it does not have the digital coaxial input,it gets an optical audio out. This has an optical audio out, insert audio out, digital coax audio out,and optical audio out,left-right stereo analog audio out and video outs and component out.
The only input they have is cabling with a coax. We got composite video and audio out,we have an IR blaster and infrared blaster for a little trigger,I’ve got the blasters around here.
I’ve got a couple of older models. I had this 500 model of a touchscreen remote, that didn’t even do that five years ago. It was horrible. But Logitech Harmony’s have come a long way. So this is one way to save some money by having this remote and they still use this remote all over the country now for their service.
They’ve used it for the last about ten years, so it’s horrible,I hate these remotes. However they supply it with double-a batteries, so if you run out of batteries, keep in mind you can call your cable company up and tell them that you don’t have batteries.
Let’s deal with that. They all have removable IEC power supplies which is nice. However I’ll run through this. You got your HDMI input here and that is your optical audio out there. You also have your cable out, so you can go out coax with this thing, the other ones cannot do that. This can be supplied for a TV that we’re at the CRT 2 DB,I get Ethernet, your USB and then you can have another type of pin setting for 1394.
We can see what we have at the bottom of the box, there is nothing special. However the big difference between this one and that one is the former one has the white elite led time being displayed,it is not hard on the eyes, but this one has a bright blue LED time display that is not LED. Those are old-school digit type of deals. That’s like a crystal screen in there.
This is a horrible time display. It will hurt your eyes even led up the whole room with that blue light. Before we do that, let me take one peak, this is our enhanced whole elf DVR,this is what I have in my bedroom. It was recording off of this. Everything was recording on this, this is an heiress box,we’ll have a look at what it’s including. It includes a composite,a component,a digital audio out infomation in terms of optical in HDMI,two USBs.
There is an eSATA connection,an external infrared blaster in and then you have your removable power supply, cable card, you can go in there though they’ve already done that from the store. It is time for showing you the Time Warner/spectrum/charters router now. It is their best router/modem cable modem/ router all-in-one. It is going to be supplied for the 60 megabits per second internet connection,it is their maximum speed that they offer in this location.
Here’s the router, you can connect up to 4 external devices off of this. They will all help if you’re working well. I believe this will operate off the 2 gigahertz frequency and the 5 gigahertz, so you can see that you have got your dual band router.
That can be mounted up on the wall too. Catholics uses it as a chair. But this is your router from spectrum service at the maximum internet connection you’re going to get,so it is OK. I’ve had no problems with it. However it’s a little bit bulky. I still suggest picking up the nighthawk.
The nighthawk AC 1900 is probably the best renowned router/ cable modem out there for up to light. I don’t know a thousand negative,it’s a second. You cannot go wrong with that nighthawk router. Let me get to this quickly and I will conclude this. This is the full-on biggest playback box DVRs, they offer another Cisco, but it has the only manual selectable button on the front of it.
It’s that annoying blue one again. You have a USB Drive in the front and let’s take a look at the back quickly. It’s not their newest box, but this the one that you’ll get nowadays. If you’ve got a whole house enhanced DVR and you want another DVR at another room, you can look at this box. It is a simple playback box which you cannot pause, you can pause rewind with this one and select your list in that small area. You cannot do anything even pause with that one.
When you get your coax in or you get your coax out, that’s rare. You have a composite, you have a component, that’s good to go. We’ve got an optical audio out. It’s rare to have a coax, that’s why I love to see that coax get your infrared blaster, you have your Ethernet coming in, you have a USB 2.0 HDMI,you have a little support 2.1.
This one has got cable card installed already and that’s how they determine what service you’re going to get and what you won’t. But it is annoying with the light, it’s extremely annoying and bright and overpowering. Let me talk about this. This is the way you are getting cable nowadays, this is the way you always used to get cable with a coax cable or feed to your house. This old-school traditional method of coax used to look like this,it has a copper wire running through there,it has strong piece of copper that sent your signal with a piece of insulation wrapped around it.
They have moved away from this on the telephone poles, you will see that they still have to send the signal for the internet TV and phone through these lines. The phone line is sharing through ATS RJ 24 Network RJ 13,I’d have to check up on those RJ numbers again. It’s been so long since I’ve used them. This is a digital coax cable, now they are utilizing the same thing.
You will notice that there are some numbers on the side of this. But it’s brand-new, so there’s no problem. They’ve been having with these digital coax lines for a long time. The way they differentiate them is white from black, the old stuff is black, new stuff is white. That’s how they do it. It’s not that much different, however, it’s digital.
It’s analog wise, but they call it that. That is a difference with cable companies. I have a satellite dish on my home,I can show you it, but it is worthless. I’ve done an analysis on this. The best service now for the cheapest amount of money is Time Warner/charter spectrum. The most internet you’re going to get to save and have the most cost-effective is Time Warner/charter spectrum. That is the best service you’re going to get for the most internet and TV channels.
There’s the comparison. I had seven rooms hooked up with cable. I have those in my house. It was working beautifully with Time Warner and terribly with u-verse. I didn’t have to reset my router cable modem through spectrum. We’ll go back and do another comparison of the u-verse box in about a month once I’ve transferred on my other property to that service. I’ve got a few properties with different service and I’ll transfer it. I will show you the newest boxes and modems from them.
