We are independent educational consultants to help you navigate the educational maze from K to 12 through college. Career Planning considers us as your personal guidance counselors. The paper gives a presentation about our student portal.
The student portal is a powerful piece of software that is used in the college planning and application process. Each student who works with an IES consultant receives their own personalized student portal.
This is the login screen to this powerful piece of software. Once you establish with an IES educational consultant, you will receive an email with the login link and directions to access the student portal.
Your first step will be on this screen where you’ll type your username and password. You may want to bookmark this page on your computer because you’ll be visiting and remember to keep your username and password somewhere where you’ll be able to access it. If you forget it, let’s login, which will bring you to the landing page for the student portal to consider this command as central. Your screen might be blank when you first log in. However, as communication picks up between you and your counselor, it will fill up.
Fast parents will be able to access the screen as well though you will all be able to see your assignments test dates and your to-do list will also be known as milestones. First of all, we’ll look at the About Me section when you first log in to your account. Be sure to put in the information about yourself, so that we make sure everything is accurate.
Sometimes your counselor will put this in for you. If so, just check and make sure that it’s accurate. You’ll want to go to the My Family section where you will enter information about your parents and siblings. Please be sure to enter all parents who you would like to have copied emails and make sure you put the correct email address in for them. Everything we communicate with counselor and student back and forth is carbon copied to the parents. The My Appointments section is really accessed by your counselor and you will see a list of appointments as their assignments are also accessed by your counselor.
Your council will put the assignments into this page. When you have completed the assignment, you can go to the Edit button. Type the date completed and then your counselor will know it’s done and will check whether the assignment is completed. The next tab is My Test.
You can register for the CT register for the SAT. See all the tests you have coming up and input your scores. The My College List page is extremely powerful. What I want to show you when your counselor sends you schools to consider, you can click right on the school name and get a lot of information about each college you are interested in. You can see the Expand All tab and it tells you everything. You can imagine what you would want to know, so it is definitely worth taking a look at all the data.
Once you have established the list of colleges you’re interested in applying, you will complete the admissions details. Decide whether you’re going to apply early action, early decision priority or regularity and whether you’re going to do financial aid and what the requirements are for that school.
Once you put all in it, you will have an action plan and be able to track your application progress. It is very powerful as well because you can view everything you need to complete by college by due date or by milestone. If we wanted to look by due date, we will see everything that is due for every college on the date that it needs to be submitted. Where it says the status this is where you can edit and put in any changes you have made.
The next tab is my decisions, where you will be able to put in your acceptance enrolling wait-listed deferred denied submitted pending to keep track of all of your college applications. It is a handy tab to email your advisor and we can keep track of the communication between each other. The parents, counselor and student can all be on the same page.
My documents page is where you can load documents you would like to share with your counselor. Your counselor can load documents that they would like to share with you. It’s a nice one-stop place to keep everything organized. The survey module is extremely powerful and we are going to look into this one at another time. It is where you can look at your personality testing and you can look at your college affordability. Finally, we have the college Video Search option, where you can check out videos to any college that interest you.
It’s a great way to get a feel for the things you’re looking at. Thanks for reading.
