Description:This article is about t mobile login. Google and HTC have a unique login security screen on the G1 Android phone. You can also add folders to the Home screen to organize your applications. The T-Mobile G1 smartphone combines full touchscreen functionality and a qwerty keyboard with a mobile Web experience.
This is Matthew Miller from ZDNet smart phones and cellphones and mobile Gadgeteer blogs going to do a little test that we did at the google, android, t-mobile launch event a couple weeks ago. I have my original iphone here and the t-mobile g1 is on this side.
They’re devoted to my blog unfortunately the android browser keeps defaulting to the mobile version, I haven’t figured out how to spoof that yet or change it, but what I’m going to do is that I’m going to enter in something like CNN.com and they’ll turn the camera back on.
I’ll hit go on both, we’ll time it via Wi-Fi connection and see how fast they are side-by-side back, at the event it seemed that the android browser was a bit slower even via Wi-Fi, let’s see what happens, I’ve entered cnn.com, now I’m going to tap on both of them at the same time/
Let’s see how they go, I hit both close the same, as they’re loading each page, iphone jumped quickly to the CNN mobile.com website and the g1 is loading the CNN full website, it is still loading but it’s loading the full one, let me stop which you can access by pushing the menu.
It’s finished now, let me try another website, let’s give another try, this site never returns me to a mobile version, this is the seattletimes.com website, I get both these going again, I missed the Android one, it’s a little intense, stop both as to do it again in a second.
Let’s try this again, the iphone starts splitting up their first, look at the status bar, iphone is done, g1 is now done, so it’s close, but as you can see the default views are quite a bit different, if you move around on it, the android will give you the option to zoom in and out.
It starts off by zooming you in to start off with to where you can read it whereas you cannot do that in the iphone, we can quickly double tap on the android, you cannot do double tapping or tapping and holding or anything, you need to move around like this and then zoom in with the buttons and the controls.
It takes a little bit more practice to surf around but it is a powerful browser, as you can see it will give you the full web on some sites, but it takes some more time to play around with, before I turn off the light, we can see the screen little bit more.
I want to let you know that I’ve been playing with this for about four and a half days, I listen to some of the creak, there’s a little bit of movement still, it is tight when open and closed, but you can definitely hear the creak, they touch each other, it will make some creaking noises as you push on it.
I guess that’s part of being a version, one product has a screen that moves a bit, so there’s some play in it, I also want to show this, this is the Android unlock screen, it’s a visual pattern, when you turn it on, it happens to be that, if we got a G, you strictly slide your finger around.
If it’s correct, now let’s go into settings to show you that where that set up and some security location, it requires the pattern, you use a visible pattern and changed unlock, let’s change the unlock, here’s our current pattern, we draw one that we want to do.
You can do something like an L, click continue, if I did it wrong, it gives me an error, you have to confirm it, I do it twice and confirm, I’m not sure if this is visible or not, let’s try unchecking the visible, let me turn it back on, push on lock.
It’s the same thing, as you can see it is not visible when my finger draw the pattern, that’s all, but one thing is with the screen grease on this, my daughter a had a pattern in there, she says I can see where your finger was by the face grease that’s on there and where your finger trace.
That means it still needs some work but it’s an interesting locking mechanism, I also have some more notifications, I want to show you a few of those, as you can see I installed a couple of mini application splash play, a tune wiki, I have some email messages, we have a calendar reminder, these are text messages and a new email here.
I tap the text messages, that’s what the text messaging looks like, ones that are unread have a little green thing with it, today I was showing this off at work, the android market still doesn’t have many applications, but it gets more and more applications, it doesn’t seem to be a way to have more than three home screen pains.
So I was thinking how in the world if I want to load like 50 applications like I do at times on my mobile devices, will I be able to do this? I remembered if you come in here and you tap and hold, you can add to home, you can add different applications, widgets, wallpaper, but there are also the shortcuts.
If you notice when you scroll through there, there are options for a bookmark, a folder contact, gmail label and music playlist, if you tap folder, you can then add a folder there, I’ll throw this folder way and as you can see it turns red because I’ve created the folder here called games.
All you do is to tap on the icon and throw it into the folder, you can customize how you’re going to organize this, as you see I tap on games, I’ve got three games thrown into that folder, that has a picture background, you can still see your home screen panels.
If I tap and hold on the title, I can change the name of that folder, I don’t see a way to change the type of look and feel of the icon folder that you can rename it, that way you can easily organize all of your applications the way you want on three panels and folders, there should be plenty of room for customizing.
