Welcome to tech nobility. I’m Berridge and what we’re going to do is we are going to discuss how to tether your Android phone on t-mobile without a tether plan. If you’re aware of how the mobile goes about tethering if you don’t have a tethering plan, you’ll basically get that t-mobile screen of death. If you don’t know what I’m talking about let me go ahead and show you here. It’s that screen that says you do not have access to hotspot.
Now a lot of people will tell you that they don’t receive that error but I’ve gone through that before. You may go good week or two or sometimes even months without them catching on but eventually they will find out and they’ll disable it. But there is a solution to this. It is a very simple solution. It takes a few steps and a little persistence. But you can do it. If you’re on t-mobile and you want to tether your phone and use it as your day-to-day Internet, this works with t-mobile’s LTE.
The first thing you want to do is make sure that your phone is rooted. It doesn’t matter which Android phone you’re using you only need to make sure it’s rooted. When you go to settings in Android you can see that you have the tethering option.
You’re going to avoid that altogether. You’re not going to use it. This utilizes the tethering of your phone but in a different way. first thing you want to do is download an application called Wi-Fi tether. Wi-Fi tether is no longer available in the Play Store. What I’ll do is I’ll post a link below to my website which will give you the link to where to download Wi-Fi tether.
While you’re at it you need to make sure your phone is rooted. You can go to security TO make sure unknown sources is checked off because you’re going to download the application. You’re going to side load the application through a third-party site. The second thing you’re going to do or the third thing you’re going to do is download Chrome browser if you’re not already using it.
A lot of people use Chrome these days so if you’re already using Chrome you can skip that step. Afterwards what you’re going to do is download user agent switcher in chrome. Let me show you how that’s done. Once you’re in Chrome you need to find that where it says tools in the settings bar up top. When you’re in tools, you can go to extensions. You can scroll down to get more extensions and click on that. You can then go ahead and search for user agents switcher 2.0. You’re going to type that in to search the store.
You can either do it that way. I’m going to make it easier for you. You can click on the link below. It’ll take you directly to the user agent string. You can either do it through the tool bar or you can download or you can click on the link and download it directly through the link below. After you’ve downloaded the user agent string, you can go ahead and go back to the extensions and make sure you enable it. Basically what you need to do is you need to go back to the settings,go back to tools, click on extensions and then enable user agent switch or 2.0.
Once that’s enabled, here’s your next step. What you’re going to do is click on this little button and enable Googlebot. You need to make sure Google BOTS is enabled. I know once you have Googlebot enabled what you’re going to do is go back to your phone and open Wi-Fi tether. Now we are going to open Wi-Fi tether. This is what you’re going to see when you first open it. You can click on it. It’s going to say start tethering. Now you’re tethering. When you connect through your computer through your Wi-Fi,it should show up as Android tether. You can go ahead and connect to it through your computer. Now we will go back to Chrome and start web browsing.
As long as you have Googlebot,Google spider enabled through user agent switcher and you will see the little sunglasses on the Settings tab. Then you should be able to tether. If you close out of the browser and you open a new window, you’re going to have to re-enable it. If you’re switching through tabs you do not have to continuously re-enable the user agent string so keep that in mind.
You may want to disable it whenever you’re tethering. You can go ahead and rename it when you’re not. I will go through these steps again. First of all you need to make sure your phone is rooted. You need to download Wi-Fi tether for root again. I’ll post the link below.
If you don’t have Chrome browser you can download it. In Chrome you need to make sure that you download user agent script a switch or 2.0. I’ll post a link below. You can download it directly. You need to go back to the extensions and enable user agent switcher. Once it is enabled, you need to make sure that you have checked off Googlebot parentheses Google spider.
You can head back to your phone. You can open Wi-Fi tether and make sure you grant super user access when you open Wi-Fi tether. and then click on the big Wi-Fi icon. and then at that point go ahead and connect through your connected Wi-Fi network through your computer. go back to Chrome and start web browsing. I’ll give you a better step-by-step below that by clicking that directly links you will go to my site where you’ll find a instructional.
