Description: This passage focuses in the workspace login which shows you how to set up Amazon Workspaces. Amazon is rolling out a new way for businesses to use its cloud-based virtual desktop service, Amazon WorkSpaces.
I’m going to show you how I set up Amazon workspaces. Amazon workspaces is a virtual desktop Windows 7 operating system that you can put on Amazon’s Fire tablet, Android tablets, iPads Chromebooks, Mac OS X and Windows machines.
We’ll get started by clicking on workspaces, select get started, then select launch under quick setup, click on value, you can see the price over there on the right hand side, by selecting the different options you can see the difference in price.
You’ll see an area at the bottom, username, first name, last name and all that information, you’re going to have to type that in before you can select launch workspaces, you now have Amazon workspaces.
We have to wait 20 minutes, in the console we can delete our workspaces if we ever need it to, we can do that by selecting it and go up to actions, there are a couple of things you can do as well, next we have to download the Amazon workspaces client.
I’m on a Mac, so I’m going to select Mac, you can Google Amazon workspaces client and this web page will pop up, once it downloads, I’m going to drag it to my desktop, open it up, follow the prompts.
The client has been downloaded, you navigate to it, open it up, when you first set up your workspaces, you received an email with a code that you’re going to need to set it up, I already set mine up.
I’m going to hit reconnect and launch my windows 7 environment within my computer, I’ve had a great experience using Amazon workspaces, you have to figure out that it’s right for you, there are a lot of ways to look at it.
Maybe you buy a computer every five years, you spend $1,500 on it, that works out to twenty-five dollars a month, the person also depends on whether or not you’re a part of AWS educate which gives you credit for their services.
What I’m doing is downloading Chrome, it doesn’t come with Chrome, it comes with Firefox, it includes schools purchasing web-based computers such as Chromebooks and iPads, more and more schools are implementing bring-your-own-device programs.
It’s harder and harder to find computers to download programs, but now Amazon has a cool solution to that problem. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great Amazon workspaces experience.
