Description: The article is about wvu portal. It mentions the improvement of the conditions of the facilities of the hospital and the new creation of the treatment for cancer that can be given and shown by West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute.
We are learning much about the human brain, many people in the country are dealing with Alzheimer’s with opiate addictions traumatic brain injury spinal cord injury Parkinson’s disease, many of these conditions we don’t have cures for cancer for the most part in the old days, it was a death sentence, but now you can have cancer survivors, the same kind of effort needs to be pushed for those with neurological and brain conditions over the last few years at WVU medicine.
We’ve tried to focus on what we call signature programs that are going to make lasting impact to improve the health of those we serve, the WBU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is one of those big ventures at the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, our mission is to transform the lives of individuals affected with brain and neurological disorders to improve clinical care research and education and to accelerate the discoveries that can lead to better outcomes for patients.
Recruiting world-class people is not easy, but the reason why Ali is here is the reason I think we’re all here, we’re not about prestige, we’re about purpose to make this state a place that is worthy for everyone who lives here, it planes where people want to come, we want to think about research which is not a conduit to bringing grants or obtaining papers.
But what we want to do is to turn the telescope instead, there is another way, you can start to focus on solving the real problems that people have in our state, some of the new technologies here that we are among the world’s leaders is the use of brain pacemakers to treat Alzheimer’s and to treat and manage opioid addiction alcoholism as well as the use of ultrasound technologies to treat Alzheimer’s and to treat addictions.
The doctor will take the opportunity to focus on Alzheimer’s, focus on neurological diseases and focus on the opioid crisis, we are determined to defeat that, we’re determined to turn ourselves into a place in which that is not a crisis and that is in the absolute tradition of the land-grant University.
The Institute facilitates multidisciplinary connectivity so that an individual who has a problem like a stroke or a spinal condition is able to come in one location and be able to see different specialists that are able to provide the most comprehensive and coordinated and holistic management approach for that individual, everyone who’s invested in this university and in this Medical Center has made a very wise investment.
They’ve invested people who believed in a cause and that cause is going to be a magnificent opportunity to create something very special for everyone, we are moving the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute into Phase two point O, so you see faculty expansion, you will see physical plant expansion and then we’re going to be able to tie those people and those physical plants together with programming that I believe 1000% are going to make a difference in people’s lives.
