Normally when I send money to myself, I use Western Union, Western Union by no means is a great company, Western Union has terrible customer service, there are a lot of problems with them, but this time when sending money to myself, I decided to use Xoom which was a huge mistake.
I have a problem, I use Xoom for the first time, I spoke to one of the representatives over the phone, she guaranteed me that money would be there in minutes and she knew it was my first time using Xoom, I made a transaction through Xoom.
I got a notice saying it could take up to four business days to get my money, why did your other person on the phone guarantee me that it would be there within minutes when that’s simply not true? It could take up to four business days instead of within minutes. Why was she dishonest?
I spoke to an agent a couple of days ago, she said that it transfers within minutes, this is the supervisor from Xoom who is not answering my question as to why their other representative misled me, so we’re going to run a little test, I’ll call Xoom back, I’ll pretend to be someone that’s never used them and see what they tell me, see if they tell me that it’ll be available in minutes or there could be a holding period of four business days.
I’ve never used Xoom before, I am thinking about using it to send money, how long does it take to get your money after sending through Xoom? I’ll be sending it to the Philippines from the United States. If I pick it up, I can get it within minutes. It’s that simple.
All I do is to send money from my bank account and pick it up within minutes, it is very dishonest practice from Xoom, if you look up Xoom reviews online, you’ll see all kinds of complaints, a lot of people say that they had the exact same problem where they were told that it would be available within minutes, but it could take four business days.
Some people said that it took up to ten days to get their money, I will never be using this company again, I learned my lesson, I hope that this information helps you when you’re trying to make these decisions because that’s why I’m doing this.
I hope that you’re going to continue to keep learning even from my moments that aren’t my best moments in life but that’s when you usually learn the most, it’s been several days since I made that call, I want to update you that the money has been received.
I want to let you know what I liked about Xoom. They have a referral program, a friend and I each got $25 Amazon giftcards, the other thing I liked is that once your bank makes the payment, the money’s been deducted from your bank account, you can take a screenshot and send it to Xoom, they’ll speed up the process which still took maybe another 8 to 12 hours before they sent the money.
But all in all it still took several days to receive money, it is very different than the instantly receiving your money as they promised you, what I dislike with any company is their being blatantly dishonest which was proven earlier that turns me off.
The other thing I didn’t like about Xoom was to send US dollars, there was a transaction fee of $8, there are other services out there that you can do it much cheaper, to me that’s too high, but I do not think I will be using this service again, especially since they have that policy of blatantly lying to customers, hopefully this helps you out, we’ll be back with a lot more awesome articles, thanks.
